brake fluid vacuum bleeder - mobile mouse - 10-03-14 Hi, About to replace rear brake fluid. And I am looking at getting a vacuum bleeder, but a little spoilt for choice. Which vacuum bleeders are people using are they all the same or different. Because the Mityvac units without a gauge are £33+ and the Mityvac units with a gauge start at £43 But there are the cheaper units with a gauge starting at £17.24 Cheers, Re: brake fluid vacuum bleeder - elbrownos - 11-03-14 You don't need a vacuum bleeder for replacing the brake fluid because you're just flushing the old fluid out with new fluid. Unless you do it wrong, you won't get any air into the system. Re: brake fluid vacuum bleeder - Dead Eye - 12-03-14 I've done many fluid changes including from dry and I've never looked back and thought that I could have done with a Vacuum Bleeder... at least not on the bike... having one for the car would be much easier :\ Re: brake fluid vacuum bleeder - Mattsplat - 12-03-14 I recently bought a one way bleed valve attached to a bit of hose, does the job. £3 odd from eblag. Re: brake fluid vacuum bleeder - Dave48 - 12-03-14 Have often used the tube & jamjar method but occasionally have used the Mityvac to "pull" fresh fluid through the system when putting brake fluid into completely "dry" system ie after brake dismantling/overhaul. Borrowed a vacuum bleeder after changing a master cylinder on a Mondeo and to say it was shite is an understatement. This "bad boy" vacuum jobby was also petrol compressor driven but still crap!! Re: brake fluid vacuum bleeder - Deefer666 - 13-03-14 you need nothing more that an 8mm ring spanner, a length of see-through pipe, & a jam jar. That's all I have ever used. ![]() |
