I have picked up an SJ1000 cam, which from here on i'll refer to as 'gypsy cam', as a poor mans gopro!
Previously, i had lots of dogcamsport bulletcam equipment, and it did the job well, but had a lot of bulk (batteries, recorders, cables and so on) so i understand why the all in one box has such appeal. The roblem i'm facing, is mounting it without getting godawful vibrations. This is no doubt made worse by the gypsycam cheap plastic mounts, which have a lot of flex in them.
So who has mounted gopro and successfully eliminated the vibration/shake issues? I can easily convert the gypsy waterproof case to accept gopro mounts, or it can use the standard 1/4" bolt thread tripod mount thing.
What do you use?
Incidentally, the picture quality on the gypsycam is superb, but really spoiled by the vibration issues.

I'd have though a couple of layers of bicycle inner tube would sort you out?

Hmmm..... Is the mount the same as the drift etc? Where it screws in the bottom? :biker
You could get one of those if so, they are metal

It has a tripod mount 1/4" threaded hole, presumably that's the same?
I used the rubber sucker and did some footage from the helmet (fnarr), and it was just sooo much smoother! Which is good, as it showed it was a mounting issue and not a gypsy cam issue! Considering it was dark, I was very happy with the quality.
Shame that I prefer to see on-bike rather than on-bonce

I can only assume the thread is a universal size with a quick search I couldn't find an answer and I have to go to work in a minute
I don't own a sucker mount or I could check but there are quite a few on ebay of different types. Just be sure the suction is good enough to stay stuck, well worth tethering it as well
So you think the mount itself is flexing and causing vibrations? I know the proper Drift/Go Pro mounts are metal but are probably about 30 quid or so.

I'd say that my body has dampened the vibrations a lot, plus it was a very short mount rather than a long mount. Yeah it's a universal tripod hole so should be plenty of options out there, sure I'll figure something out

I have a contour cam on the side of me helmet (and a chilli cam on the left hand side of the bike, altho haven't used it so far)
Before them I had a ATC3K on the left hand side of the bike which did suffer from vibes.
I thought about getting RAM mounts like my sat nav uses but haven't got around to it.

Just picked up the gopro black 3+ and all the mounts seem to be plastic.. my previous cam was mounted on a bracket which fixed onto the tank fuel ring. Shooting through a clear visor with no problems.. that cam was too big for the helmet i found. You tried handlebar mounting it or even a gopro chest strap you can get them dead cheap on ebay

Not sure what happened to the link but this one is working.
Handlebar mount was very very vibraty, had to use about 5-6" of mounts to get height over the tinted screen, and those plastic mounts had a lot of flex. The helmet footage above used the minimum of mounts

I tried a different mount point. The manufacturer spends a lot of money trying to reduce vibrations at the mirror, so i put the mount on the front fairing, with the cam up against the mirror stalk, with a bit of foam between the stem and the cam. The cam was also held against the foam/mirror stalk by way of elastic band.
The result is, nearly good, but still affected by vibrations (allbeit tiny vibrations)

playing about with a couple of options tomorrow.. fitted a handlebar mount and also one on the fairing at the base of the screen (standard GopRo stick on mount for that)..
ill see how things go with that.. if the vibrations too much Ive got an idea for a vibration free mount to try too

I'd be interested to see photos of the mounts people are using, manufacturers brackets or home made, especially on bike. Got one place I can mount my camera, using velcro strap on a crash bung, but would like something higher up too - don't want to stick anything onto my helmet (oo er, just to continue the theme :lol ), don't want to drill any panels on the bike. Doesn't matter what model bike it's on, just looking for ideas too.

I did a track day a couple of weeks ago and I went NUTS with camera angles and different mounting positions.

It's not the sturdiest, and I had to modify it to fix it solid, as it was very wobbly with the swivelling ability.
My cameras are a Drift HD and an Easypix Xstasy (basically a Polaroid XS100) which came with a good bar mount in the box.
