Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - Jdalt - 29-01-14 If you are on a serious budget and need any of these items you might get a bargain, not sure what the quality will be like but the prices look OK. http://ridermagazine.co.uk/rev-up-for-a-wheely-great-biker-bargain-at-aldi/ Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - ChristoT - 29-01-14 I like the sound of the kevlar jeans! Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - nick crisp - 29-01-14 Can't wait to see the queues of "dedicated Hell's Angels" at the checkouts! :lol Boots at £29.99? Something not working for me there, but can't quite put my finger on it...... Fell apart after a year! Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - Paul Kent - 29-01-14 I bought the jeans and neck warmer last year from there and they are okay for the money Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - mickvp - 29-01-14 I had a pair of the boots from Aldi before (not the exact same ones I imagine, but they were about that price anyway). Believe it or not, they actually werent all that bad for the money. Once I moved up from the 50cc though I felt I needed to get something more proper. Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - nick crisp - 29-01-14 Balaclavas, neck tubes, thermal base layers, ok. But when gear that is supposed to be protective in the event of an accident starts to be sold by such places at these kinds of prices, yes, I have my doubts. Maybe I just have a suspicious mind :\ Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - Jdalt - 29-01-14 (29-01-14, 10:57 PM)nick crisp link Wrote: Balaclavas, neck tubes, thermal base layers, ok. Maybe I just have a suspicious mind :\ I sort of agree but then think if someone who would not normally be able to afford even the basic protective gear buys this stuff because of its price it is surely better than wearing say jeans and a normal jacket. Also maybe this stuff is as good as some of the stuff that is sold as "named" gear but without a massive markup. Alas, I think this might be becoming all too true. With a lot of "top" brands now having their products manufactured in China, India, Croatia etc in order to reduce labour costs, the quality of these brands has undoubtedly shown a marked decline in recent years. This, apparently, also includes motorcycle manufacturers who once had a reputation for quality finish. It is not, in my mind, something to be encouraged however. Better for cheaper brands to improve than for the more trustworthy names to sink to their level. Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - snapper - 29-01-14 I got there boots a few years ago ! god i hope the've changed them worn once when i took them off the liners on both feet fell apart absolutly awful ! Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - mtread - 30-01-14 I bought the kevlar jeans last year. As said, good value for the money. Having said that, I haven't tried them out properly yet ! Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - fazersharp - 30-01-14 Aldi - German Hein Gerrick --- German, there must be a lot of stock laying around have they done a deal Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - nick crisp - 30-01-14 (29-01-14, 11:58 PM)ChristoT link Wrote: CROATIA?? Large orders out to them recently. Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - karlo - 30-01-14 I've had some Aldi boots for over 4 years, great kit and still going strong. Although they have changed them I noticed last year. Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - stevierst - 30-01-14 I bought a textile jacket off them a few years ago, supposedly waterproof. It was crap and I got piss wet through first rainstorm! I took it back and got a refund. Saying that, I use the compression base layers from aldi, and they're very good! Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - seangee - 30-01-14 I bought a textile suit form them several years ago. Was absolutely fine and waterproof. Only changed it because it looked really tatty after 2-3 years but still did what it was supposed to. Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - stevierst - 30-01-14 A bit of a quality control problem then??? Re: Aldi Biker Bargains on the way. - bigralphie - 30-01-14 If its CE marked in comes under the Personal Protection Directives and will have to have been submitted for assessment by a notified body That said its only the component providing the protection that is assessed (i.e. a pad etc) but unlike many CE products it is tested to a standard |
