ZX-4 update thread - ChristoT - 24-01-14 Well, tomorrow, I retrieve the ZX-4. I fear the worst. The good news is that water DIDN'T make it into my oil - the milkiness was just condensation (so my mechanic reckons). He also reckons the head gasket is OK! The BAD news is that the fan is completely fucked. Half the vanes gone, and what's left is partially melted. Might have been something as daft as a blocked pipe. Either way, I won't be happy until I've given the bike a full stripdown and inspection... The fairing is in a bad way, that will take up a lot of time. Not sure whether to fix it with ABS plastic, carbon fibre (if work let me use it), or just bog standard glass fibre. The rear will need a lot of TLC, and a new screen goes withou saying. The main bastard is going to be finding the parts! Watch this space... Re: ZX-4 update thread - unfazed - 24-01-14 Would the bits of an old ZX6 fit Like the Fazer 400 and 600 parts are interchangable Worth checking out Re: ZX-4 update thread - ChristoT - 24-01-14 (24-01-14, 11:07 PM)unfazed link Wrote: Would the bits of an old ZX6 fit I'm hoping it shares some parts with the ZXR400. I'm not sure, as it's a lot smaller than the ZX6 (my rad is tiny!). But certainly worth a look. Re: ZX-4 update thread - Gnasher - 25-01-14 I think I'm right in saying the ZX-4 is a small (400) version of what in the UK was the ZX-10 and a grey import, I've never seen one! Your best bets are find someone who's braking one, search the social networks for a ZX4 club, a grey importer or try dealing with a stealer in Japan which is easier these days as a lot of younger Japanese speak English. Good luck mate let us know how you get on. Re: ZX-4 update thread - bri h - 25-01-14 Good luck chris. |
