Magazine Feature Query - markysimon - 18-01-14

Hi There,

I'm writing a piece on the Fazer in the 'Emerging Classics' series for Classic Motorcycle Maniacs and would like to hear from anyone who's got a stock, early example to feature in it, preferably one they've owned for quite a while.  Wink  Anyone who's interested please send me a PM.

Cheers – Mark Williams

Re: Magazine Feature Query - Farjo - 18-01-14

There's a whole thread about this in the FZS600 board. Pity journalists cannot be bothered to do any research.

Re: Magazine Feature Query - dickturpin - 18-01-14

or the manners to use the site in this way?

I'm sure he has, you knobber. Mark Williams isn't exactly a cub reporter for a school magazine, he started Bike magazine y'know (before it became the self-regarding drivel it is now).

Thanks for this. Never been called a knobber before, but there's a first time for everything...! (And yes. I am that Mark Williams).  :rolleyes

Yes, I did check out this bike, but was under the impression it was for sale, in which case by the time the mag came out it wouldn't be relevant or indeed entirely fair on the new owner. So my request still remains... anyone out there able to help.

As to using this forum to help contact a keen, knowledgeable owner – can anyone suggest a better way?

Cheers – Mark W

Re: Magazine Feature Query - hightower - 18-01-14

Mark, I think he was calling the other guy a knobber. Don't mind this lot, good bunch of owners really.

How about a trade off - we'll give you a bike and you give the forums a mention in your article?

Mark W --- Have you been contacting other forums at the same time and forgot where you were as your statement about thinking the bike was for sale has nothing to do with the thread you were given to start looking

And yes simon pieman was calling farjo a knobber for dissing YOU

Re: Magazine Feature Query - markysimon - 18-01-14

Oh dear yes... I mis-read the knobber ref (which perhaps makes me one?!), and one of the threads within a thread I checked out. But I haven't approached any other forum and OF COURSE I'd big-up yours if I can find a willing owner via it!  Big Grin

Cheers – Mark W

Classic Motorcycle Maniacs? Not heard of that one before. Is it a UK publication?

Re: Magazine Feature Query - hightower - 18-01-14

Re: Magazine Feature Query - ChristoT - 18-01-14

I'm the resident expert on Fazer/tarmac/Mercedes interfaces, if that helps in any way!  :rolleyes

Oops, you obviously don't know who you've referred to as a 'knobber', and what he does for this forum  Wink

I do and Farjo is a fine fellow. But by the same token Farjo obviously didn't know who he was directing he's cynical bile at and didn't know what this person has done for motorcycling. Ironic, since if Farjo had 'bothered to do his research' he'd have known easily enough.
Whenever I read Mark Williams I can't help recalling that article with a picture of a bird in a leopard skin reclining over a Guzzi LeMans. Iconic picture. Pages on my copy long stuck together, alas.

Re: Magazine Feature Query - nick crisp - 19-01-14

Just a mo Paul, is that "Maniacs" bit just a typo then? Not to be overly suspicious, but anyone offering to help needs to make sure that this is indeed that Mark Williams and not a scammer - after all, anyone can type a few words on a forum. And apologies if you're genuine markysimon, but I'm sure you can understand, and sure if you're genuine, you'll be able to prove yourself.

Re: Magazine Feature Query - red98 - 19-01-14

thats a good point about scammers nick......iam sure mark will be along shortly to put our minds at rest...
