Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - seangee - 10-01-14

In case its on your route and you haven't noticed...

The average speed cameras DO apply to bikes here :eek

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - snapper - 10-01-14

did you find out the hard way ? :eek

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - seangee - 10-01-14

Nah - I pass there at rush hour so no chance of even getting to 30. Just noticed this morning the cams are aimed at the rear of vehicles.

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - Exupnut - 10-01-14

I go past there each mornin and noticed rear facing aswell but I was doin 70 at the time so i hugged a lorry at the flyover exit to cover my plate. Phew.... Close one.

You lucky monkey  :lol .  What time do go past Exup to get 70 up?

Going to be 4 weeks in plaster before I start biking it again so should be clear by then.

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - Exupnut - 10-01-14

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - Frosties - 10-01-14

I'm over about 6.15am and again about 7.30pm - I just know this one is going to get me  :wall

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - bigbluebear - 10-01-14

I though average speed cameras were forward facing focusing on the front number plate......so unless they have facial recognition software that is able to penetrate a helmet I'd say your pretty safe

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - Dead Eye - 10-01-14

Most are, but some aren't. A lot more are now being turned to be rear facing so that they can catch bikes as well

Forgetting they already said these are rear facing!

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - paulkemp - 11-01-14

Doesn't need to be forward facing for driver recognition.  The registered owner of the vehicle is required by law to name the driver at the time of offense.  Failure to notify is a more serious offence with a bigger penalty.
So believing if they do NOT see your face is now a myth..... :-)

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - paulkemp - 11-01-14

There is a plan to fit a new system that can determine average speeds over massive distances with over 1000 cameras linked.
They been testing this system in surry so one day we will be fcuked totally.

No we won't, because over a greater distance you are more likely to be stopped in traffic, lights etc, so thats that one fooked then. Wink

Re: Roadworks on Hammersmith flyover - paulkemp - 12-01-14

the SICORE average speed camera can be linked to the SIEMENS Comet UTMC traffic management system, which monitors multiple aspects of traffic and road conditions from congestion, to incident management, traffic flow and even vehicle counting.
The future of speed enforcement.  They have been trialing this for some time on routes south of Winchester.
