Clutch - karlo - 03-01-14 I've had a ongoing problem with my clutch from when I got the bike, It's fine under normal use but when riding slow using the clutch a lot it seems to over heat as in I lose the clutch (remembrance parade, slow moving/queuing traffic e.t.c.). I've fitted a new EBC clutch and a new genuine cable, I run SILKOLENE COMP 4 10w40 FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL (previous owner used semi-syn) and it still does it. Any idea's? Re: Clutch - devilsyam - 03-01-14 you have answered your own question semi syth only on these bikes Re: Clutch - Falcon 269 - 03-01-14 That should start 'em going, mate. ![]() Re: Clutch - The Male Whale - 05-01-14 Usually does...... :rollin Semi is the way to go unless you want the problems described. Cue the usual "why?" debate........ :rolleyes Whale Re: Clutch - nick crisp - 05-01-14 I.......nah, forget it! :lol Re: Clutch - karlo - 05-01-14 I'll give it a semi a try then to see if it cures it. Re: Clutch - Falcon 269 - 05-01-14 Been running 5w/50 fully synth in mine for the last 35k miles and no clutch issues at all. Just saying ... ![]() Re: Clutch - Lank - 05-01-14 (05-01-14, 06:26 PM)Falcon 269 link Wrote: Been running 5w/50 fully synth in mine for the last 35k miles and no clutch issues at all.been running the same in mine for a few months, no issues Re: Clutch - karlo - 06-01-14 I've always run fully syn in my bikes, as I said it was doing it when I got it on semi syn. The first oil change I did shortly after was to fully syn so I changed the clutch and it was still the same so changed the cable. Re: Clutch - mikelockyer - 06-01-14 Hi Have you thought about going back to basics and checking the adjustment, by the manual as for a rebuild. Had 2 Fazers and no clutch issues in either one. Best of luck. Mike Re: Clutch - karlo - 07-01-14 Cable adjustment is correct as to the service manual. Re: Clutch - PaulSmith - 07-01-14 It might be worth checking your chain tension and oil levels. Neutral gets harder to find on my bike when the chain is too tight or when the oil level gets too low. The Fazer needs more slack in the chain then other bikes I have had, probably because of the long swingarm. For me, the oil should be just below the max mark in the sight window for the sweetest clutch and gearchange action though YMMV. Finally, check the grub screw that locks the gear change lever to the shaft (part # 14 http://www.yamahamotorcyclespares.co.uk/genuineparts/9023/19/yamaha%20fzs1000%20fazer/shift%20shaft?uID=0 ). Even the tiniest free play there will be magnified. Re: Clutch - mikelockyer - 07-01-14 Do not forget that there is scope for adjustment at both ends of the clutch cable |
