New rad cover - reillypadraig - 17-12-13 Old rad was I a bad was so got new cover, arrived yesterday, so I decided to undo the side bolts to attach the cover, and just as always with my Fazer, there had to be one prick of a bolt that wouldn't open, of course the hex rang, then vice grips didn't work, the outside is domed shaped do no use, so I decided to cut a line in the bolt with a hacksaw and use a flat head screwdriver, nope didn't work, tight as fuck, so I got thick and put the screwdriver at an angle and a hammer and tried to batter it around so I might turn abit and then unscrew it, but no, I pushed the whole corner or the rad in on its self :'( , But any thoughts on the rad cover? Re: New rad cover - His Dudeness - 17-12-13 You could try drilling the head off it but you might be better off leaving it as is if it's still holding coolant Re: New rad cover - spencer_foxwell - 17-12-13 This might help you with the bolt... www.youtube.com/embed/E90IH20he80 Edit: Why can't you use the embed code on this site? Re: New rad cover - unfazed - 17-12-13 Left hand drill bit and loads of penentrating oil is the way to go. ![]() Re: New rad cover - fazersharp - 17-12-13 Wait your all telling him to get a drill to it when he has allready proved to be Frank Spencer I say leave it and fit the cover with 3 bolts and not 4 Re: New rad cover - darrsi - 17-12-13 (17-12-13, 04:43 PM)fazersharp link Wrote:Wait your all telling him to get a drill to it when he has allready proved to be Frank Spencer I reckon there's a good chance it will vibrate if not bolted down properly. Re: New rad cover - fazersharp - 17-12-13 Put a blob of silicone behind Re: New rad cover - unfazed - 17-12-13 (17-12-13, 04:43 PM)fazersharp link Wrote:Wait your all telling him to get a drill to it when he has allready proved to be Frank Spencer He hasn't broken it yet, he just bent it :lol Re: New rad cover - john 087 - 17-12-13 as said above 3 bolts and a blob of silicone. A lot cheaper than damage to the rad. |
