handlebar risers - dcurzon - 09-12-13
Due to an ongoing back problem, looks like i might need to rise my bars a little. Going price for a set of risers seems to be around £30 - which seems a lot for a couple of alloy blocks :'(
Anyone else done this, and what problems did you face regarding cable lengths etc?

(point to note: i dropped my yoke 12mm down the forks for handling, dont wish to raise this due to large top box on rear. Just want to rise the bars a bit)

Try a set of Renthal Road mediums rather than risers, I believe there's some on here who have fitted them.

I had a set of 30mm risers, Ive got braided hoses but the risers didnt cause any problem with them. I wasnt too keen on the feel of them but sold them on to someone else on here who was more than happy with them. All down to personal choice I guess.

I don't think you can use the full rise because of the brake lines, but they give you several height options!

You are correct. The lowest rise fits just - 20mm rise. Any other will need the master cylinder to slave cylinder hose replacing.
Incidentally, I measured the lowest rise. 19.86mm one side, 20.38mm the other.

Obviously the lack of quality control = the relative bargain price.

Hi dcurzon, I got the bar risers off Doddsie and they've helped the ride no end, they've made me sit up better but I still struggle wi long legs unfortunately, could do with a couple of inches lobbed off em lol. No probs with cables or owt else, straight on.

I got the budget adjustables. Haven't been able to test as my back actually rendered me immobile, but hopefully test tomorrow!
I used the lowest option, 20mm (+/-) as any higher would mean changing the master/slave brake hose. Will see how that works out. If i need to increase then i'll have to change the hose.
My back problem also effects my legs and hips movement, so i've dropped the foot brake pedal a couple of inches so i don't need to lift my foot 'over' the pedal to get onto it, it just sits in reach of my foots natural position. Those tiny small movement we take for granted really do become hard work when its playing up!
Thankfully this will pass soon and i'll be back to normal again, until next time
