engine shiny - yamy - 13-11-13
Love my bike but every time I clean it the engine always looks like
it's not been touched, from what I've been told there is a spray you spray on
and looks like new . any ideas to what its called ?

It's called Engine Brightener, and works okay for a while, but as i found out when i sprayed my engine it is a complete and utter bastard where paint is concerned, so if you have any future plans on respraying your engine then my advice is to not use it.

Not all over but just around the fins and bits, but like you im not sure if its any good

Soapy water, rinse off and dry with a cloth so it doesnt leave water marks, quick flick over the casings with some polish, Job done!!

That bike doesn't look like it's ever left the showroom, when paint gets tired and weathered it's not as simple as that!

I can assure you that bike has been out in all weathers.

I is now considering this myself but would also be doing the OEM down pipes. Like the look of darris thread but would it work on the pipes as well?

When I had the standard crappy mild steel pipes on my ZRX I used to use fireplace grate polish. Makes them nice and black and offers nice protection.

I don't know whether it works out cheaper, but I've always used silicon spray
Back to black or Cockpit shine are a couple of trade names.
It also stops the paint peeling off the engine (paint is micro-porous and lets moisture through, the silicon seals it).

Well yep it will to a certain degree but by that time it'll be ready for its next wash anyway.
All that other shite will be the same but with the wd at least you can spray it all over the place & feel like it is doing something...i run the rag along the fairings, the frame, the wheels....my....oh never mind!!! :rolleyes .......but unlike a generic detailer at keast it will keep water & rust at bay for at least 40 days.

GT85 Spray is my weapon of choice or if i'm feeling flush I give the engine a good dose of ACF50. Both do a cracking job of making the engine and the rest of the bike look spangly. Just don't get carried away and spray it near the brake discs. For the excellent job the GT85 does, its priceless. You can get 12 cans of the stuff on he Bay of E for £25 which is a bloody bargain. 2 cans of ACF50 will cost about the same !!! Like I said, I only use the ACF50 if i'm feeling flush.
