Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - FZ1obp - 12-11-13 Just realised it is going to get colder and am thinking of fitting heated grips this winter on my FZ1. What do you suggest? Reliable and effective seem highish priorities.... Normally I've used Oxford muffs that do a reasonable job of keeping my hands warm but thought this year I'd try KTM enduro (got old pair in shed) wrap round guards and heated grips. For the last 10 winters I've been wearing a 60 W heated waistcoat/jacket that is just great for keeping the core warm and allowing warm blood to flow out to the limbs rather than them getting cold and shutting down. Many thanks Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - scubamarkt - 12-11-13 I fitted Dr Bike heated grips few weeks ago use bike every day and had some horrible weather and I can not have them on full as to warm very easy to fit adjust using a knob that works even with thick gloves on, first bike I have had heated grips on and I am never going back they are shit hot love them. Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - Robbus - 12-11-13 There's a lot of interest in Datatool grips at the mo as they have a slider built in to the left grip to adjust power so no need to take your had off the grips. I've got some no-name grips on my 600 at the mo and whilst plenty hot (5 settings) you have to toggle through the settings using a small button which isn't lit up so a bugger to find in the dark and use with thick gloves on, so at a minimum I'd recommend something with a big knob ( ![]() Cheers, Rob Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - nsr500v4 - 12-11-13 Datatool Therma for me, easy to fit, slider control easy to use and they are way too warm above second setting. Straight to battery, the fancy electronics sort it out so battery wont drain, switch them off anyway on the lowest slide setting. Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - JoeRock - 12-11-13 Oxford grips, best on the market. I'm actually selling them on here, the fact that I've sold well over a dozen pairs in just a couple of days is probably a sign of just how good they are! Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - FZ1obp - 13-11-13 Thanks guys for your guidance - I'll check out the Datatool as well as the Oxfords. Like the idea of the Datatool switching off automatically. Chhers ![]() Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - Gary - 13-11-13 Im fitting Oxford Hotgrips Touring grips this weekend .. I used the R&G on my FZS600 and they were grand. Either are fine ![]() Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - dazza - 13-11-13 My bike after fitting cheap Chinese ones...They got really hot ![]() Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - devilsyam - 13-11-13 i tried r g last year in a nutshell there crap compared to oxford never again Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - seangee - 13-11-13 (13-11-13, 09:34 PM)devilsyam link Wrote: i tried r g last year in a nutshell there crap compared to oxford never againOTOH I switched to RG after going through 3 Oxford controllers in 3 winters. Never looked back. Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - NorthWestern - 15-11-13 I removed a set of Oxford grips from my bike ( replacing damaged bars). These ones were the larger, plastic hard ones that the previous owner had snipped the wires off. Is there a nack for removing them? They seemed welded on and I had to slice them apart and use snips to.....snip the wire. The clutch side was ok but trying to be more sympathetic on the throttle side I got skewered a couple of times by the snipped wires! Absolute cr#p. Oxfords are much better. Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - cable tie - 17-11-13 Daytona hot grips, there brill had several pairs of these in the past and I've just fitted a pair on my mates tdm, leave em on start and they melt ya gloves. They have a nice feel to em, similar to sports bike grips and not the usual bulky feel. Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - nickodemon - 17-11-13 If you want premium sport oxford grips they are for sale in the for sale / wanted section for 50 quid. Bargain. Ps.. Just bought a set ![]() Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - Lank - 17-11-13 I had two bikes with heated grips, owned at the same time. One with oxford grips and the other with dr bike. Prefereed the dr bike as they had several heat settings. Oxford had four settings, also annoying was it started on the lowest each time you turned them on, dr bike had a dial which you just left on what you refereed. Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - Noj - 08-12-13 I have Yamaha fitted ones and to be honest there not as good as my Honda xx ones, as previously posted I would def go for oxford ones. The Yamaha ones were stupidly expensive and Proformance is pants compared to the Oxford ones. Re: Heated grips for FZ1 - recommendations??? - Ianboydsnr - 09-12-13 I plan on fitting these to my 1000, I have had them fitted to my FZ6 for a few years now, they are pretty discrete, as they go under the original grips! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Symtec-Motorcycle-Heated-Grip-Kit-round-rocker-switch-/350286947416?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item518ebaa458 |
