Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - bigbluebear - 12-11-13 Now the gritters have appeared the mighty Fazer thou is off the road and getting ready for another bout of winter maintenance and additions. So far my wish list for additions is a full brakes overhaul and probably a new Oxford Battery Oximiser and replacement nuts and bolts here and there.
Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - red98 - 12-11-13 service new tyres paint engine new paint ...maybe ![]() remove and polish downpipes that should keep me busy ![]() Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - ogri48 - 12-11-13 I've acf50'd it and that's it really apart from a wash every weekend Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - johnfoxllb - 12-11-13 (12-11-13, 04:38 PM)ogri48 link Wrote: I've acf50'd it and that's it really apart from a wash every weekend Do you find that washing removes the acf 50? Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - dBfazer600 - 12-11-13 I ride in all weather so spray down with scott oiler 365 and keep on top of the crud Daz Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - Dave48 - 13-11-13 Complete service end to end-starting with the brakes-seals,fluid,lines & working back to the rear tyre. Shes 10 years old so the brake lines (orig) well past their best. Nice set of "Fehling"(German) crash bars arrived yesterday. Once all jobs done it will be ACF 50 time and then connect to Optimate for the cold months. Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - FazerRuss - 13-11-13 erm....I was just going to keep riding mine.... :\ Wash it when required. Keep the downpipes as clean as possible (not that it matters really, as I have a full set WITH exup sat in the shed! woop! woop! Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - seangee - 13-11-13 All ACF'd up and polished. Only plans for winter apart from riding and petrol are keep the scottoiler topped up. Probably wash the crud off in spring :rollin . Oh and service and new tyres next week - because they are due, nothing to do with winter. Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - PaulSmith - 13-11-13 Ride her. Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - bigbluebear - 13-11-13 Just priced all this up this morning.....cant afford to do it all this year so only getting minor brakes upgrade....Brembo master cylinder, Hel braided lines and new pads......disks and callipers will need to wait until next year or I win the lottery as they are well foccin expensive....still going ahead with the cosmetic changes though.......I am also thinking of doing the swing arm in black too but not 100% on how that would look Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - PieEater - 13-11-13 Just a heads-up for those of you planning on replacing your brake lines - all these lines are made on the same equipment on the same site using the same lines and fittings, so you pays your money ............... http://stores.ebay.co.uk/wezmoto-eu?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 http://race-lines.co.uk/store/ http://www.helperformance.com/motorcycle Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - BMCfaz - 15-11-13 Mine's been off the road for 4 weeks now, and they're on the forth attempt to powdercoat the wheels - I should have put up with the flaking paint! When it comes back, the only thing it'll get over the winter is ridden, with an occasional clean to stop the salt building up.
The first 2 attempts didn't bond, for some reason (probably poor prep!) the last worked OK on the front wheel, but there were some issues round the rim on the back - uneven coverage, somehow. Hopefully the end result will be a good match to DPBMC. Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - red98 - 17-11-13 mmmmm....... have the wheels been blasted back to bare metal or are they trying to powder coat over the top of the original finish ? Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - steeeve66 - 17-11-13 Removed the exhaust to take the rust off the clamps and paint them with exhaust paint to prevent the rust setting in (any suggestions btw? I've got a can of halfords spray on exhaust paint but if anyone knows of something better?). Found the support bracket (just behind the Exup) had corroded off and will need welding back on. So it'll be a few weeks off the road... Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - Wild Bill - 17-11-13 I've just got mine cleaned and wrapped up for the winter under several dust sheets and a waterproof cover in the garage. I've also got it elevated on front & rear paddock stands because the floor does get slightly damp. The battery has been removed and i've got that connected to a trickle charger and I'll probably give it a little boost every few weeks just to keep it topped up. I've got so much lined up for it I won't bore you with the details, I'll just add pics as and when I do them ![]() Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - GrahamB - 17-11-13 Clean it, WD40 it (all I got), SORN it, fit seat when sister brings it down from Tony Archer at Christmas. Would love to have frame powder coated & paint engine while it's out but mean while, back in the real world I've got an FZ750 with a poorly engine & a house I'm totally ashamed of so it's not gonna happen. :rolleyes Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - dickturpin - 18-11-13 might take swing arm off for a check/lube.....if anyone can provide a link to a 'how to' guide that would be great.....not done it before :o Re: Winter Maintenance - What you guys got planned - ogri48 - 20-11-13 (12-11-13, 07:02 PM)johnfoxllb link Wrote:
Do you find that washing removes the acf 50?
As it happens I do mate, the problem being I live on a farm so havta ride through a paddock every morning which is constantly flooded and liberally spread with horse shit( we rent the farm house and have no control over the horsey bit) so wash my bike a lot so once the acf50 is used up I'm going back to fs365 after every wash, it works out cheaper. |
