Renthal 758 bars - Chris - 08-11-13

Hi all,

It would seem that Renthal 758's are the bars to go for but my question is where to get them from?

I've found some on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350920968084

and some on M&P's website: http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/539600/Bars-and-Footrests/Universal-Bars/viewitems.aspx

The ones on M&P's website have a different clamp dimension size from the ebay listing and both bars linked above have slightly different dimension sizes to the 758 bars on the Renthal website, even if it's only a few mm different for most of the measurements...

So, which should I go for/where did you get yours?

Cheers

Chris

I've had a few sets now from different places, they all felt the same. If they're proper Renthals, then they're going to be Renthal dimentions I would have thought.

Re: Renthal 758 bars - Chris - 08-11-13

That's what I thought too but just wasn't sure how the two linked above had such different dimensions for the clamp area.

You can get them from demon tweeks for £27.99 free postage.

Just put "renthal ultra low" in eBay search bar and they'll come up in the first few listings.

Re: Renthal 758 bars - Chris - 08-11-13

Ah cheers mate, totally forgot to check there.

These ones: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorcycle/handlebars/renthal-superbike-ultra-low-bars

They have them listed as superbike ultra low and most other places have them as 758 or road ultra low... very confusing...

dimensions quoted are slightly different again by a few mm haha. Thanks though, I'll go for them though.

Questions i keep meaning to ask, as they are called "ultra low" are they actually lower than original bars or similar?
And i know they're a little wider than standard, but in regards to fairing clearance are they the same, better, or worse?

Re: Renthal 758 bars - Chris - 08-11-13

from what I can work out from others posting on here then they are similar height to the standard but have less sweep + slightly wider and therefore more comfortable on the wrists.

As for clearance on the fairing etc then I've asked before and people said the 758's were fine.

Re: Renthal 758 bars - stevierst - 08-11-13

On my last boxeye, they only just missed the fairing. As for the name, well it's just a name that renthal give them.
And they're a hell of a lot more comfy! Slightly wider but more importantly, less sweep. Best 'comfort' mod you can make to a fazer in my eyes.

Re: Renthal 758 bars - darrsi - 08-11-13

So, i presume when fitted there's still not enough space for hand guards then?

Re: Renthal 758 bars - stevierst - 08-11-13

Erm...... No.

Renthal "low" 754's are very close to the standard bars so Ultra lows will be a bit lower.

Do the controls on the FZS have the little bits which need filling off to fit new bars?

Re: Renthal 758 bars - Chris - 08-11-13

Yes they do have the little lugs that need trimming down or you can drill the bars but I don't really want to do that.

Especially as the official line is that if you drill the bars it invalidates your warranty. Apparently if Renthal drill bars for OE use, the drilling is done before the hardening and anodising stages so strength isn't affected.

I just stuck a bit of heat shrink where my switchgear goes, it's steady as a rock. In fact before, it could move a tiny fraction due to the lug being SLIGHTLY loose in the hole on the bars. Now they don't budge a nanometer!

Just done this search on ebay and when you search then demon tweeks are first on the list at £27.99 with free postage but when you click on the advert then it says it's £11.99 postage... Going to contact them and see what the deal is.

If you buy direct from their website then the bars are £27.98 with £3.54 postage.

Does that mean you have found hand guards that fit the normal bars?

Re: Renthal 758 bars - stevierst - 08-11-13

I Just stick to muffs, gave up on handguards.
