Rubber airbox cover thing !! - itchywheels - 27-10-13 Greetings My first post ![]() Can I chuck that stupid rubber in the bin ? In other words, will it make any differance to the performance Re: Rubber airbox cover thing !! - darrsi - 27-10-13 (27-10-13, 03:58 PM)itchywheels link Wrote: Greetings My first post Why would you want to do that then? It's obviously there for a reason and not in the way or anything. I would imagine the reason it's there is to stop water from running down the tank and being sucked into the carbs when it's pissing down with rain. Re: Rubber airbox cover thing !! - itchywheels - 27-10-13 Because it's a pain in the ar** Do you know why it is there ? I can't afford dyno time at the moment. Re: Rubber airbox cover thing !! - itchywheels - 27-10-13 I will put it back :rolleyes until it go's on the dyno early next year :thumbup Re: Rubber airbox cover thing !! - darrsi - 27-10-13 It's just a bit of weather-proofing, it won't bite yer :lol Re: Rubber airbox cover thing !! - red98 - 27-10-13 yep +1 for weather proofing....also protects the electrics behind the side panels and forms part of the fitting to hold the panels on ![]() Re: Rubber airbox cover thing !! - itchywheels - 03-11-13 and it holds the side panels on :rolleyes Re: Rubber airbox cover thing !! - adeejaysdelight - 06-11-13 Itchy, one of the previous owners of my bike decided in all their wisdom to be rid of "stupid rubber thingy". When I stripped and rebuilt the bike a couple of years ago I noticed it was missing. It took me an age to find one. Do not throw it away. It protests your air filter and channels the air properly. It also seems to have improved the performance of the bike. I don't know how much you know about bikes, but I am certain that you know less than Yamaha Motorcycle Engineers, why not trust their judgement? |
