Bike or car - fireblake - 22-10-13

It's 5am and I'm in my kecks. Now I can hear the rain pississting down outside. Gotta decide whether to take the bike or the car? Jeans on or all that heavy old wet weather gear. Going is ok it's the coming that'll do me in.12 hours from now and I'll be sat in a cage with thousands of other lemmings and after a day of being cut up by cars whilst driving my truck the best antidote is my Fazer. Hey Ho, better get the gear on then, this bike won't ride its self. Within 10 minutes I'll have Song2 by Blur playing inside my head. Yehaa!

Re: Bike or car - mr self destruct - 22-10-13

Bike it definitely!

Yesterday I had the same decision, but my mrs asked me to take the car for her peace of mind. I backed it onto the road, found 2 tyres were flat (since passing my DA test in June I've not used the car), pumped them up in the pissing rain, drove to work and spent half an hour looking for a parking space, then still had a half mile walk into work. All in the rain.

I'd have been drier taking the bike.

Fucking cars.  >:

Don't own a car, then the decision is made for you. ;D

Re: Bike or car - Frosties - 22-10-13

Bike it every time. Had similar thoughts at the same soppy o'clock which I get up at every day for a 50 mile commute to Canary Wharf.

I'm always glad I take the bike 'cos the traffic just fecks me right off. Then again, so did the twat in a Picasso driving like a dick this morning...but easy to wind up before fecking off so puts a smile on yer face  :lol

Hey ho!!

Re: Bike or car - adeejaysdelight - 22-10-13

Same here bro. I start a 13 hour shift in 2 hours. I am happy for the bike right now, but at 6am the car always appeals. I will take the bike anyways, caus I'm a baddasss biker and that's how I roll. And my work is only 7 miles away.

Car in this weather nowadays. I've done my bit of riding in all weathers, rigmarole of pulling all the gear on, then taking it all off again at work, finding somewhere for it to dry, then doing it all again to go home - only 3 miles to work for me, on a little country lane, so doesn't seem worth it for that. Bike barely warms up in that distance. Plus, these days I don't care to be having to keep on top of all the cleaning and winter maintenance it requires. Keep it on the road through winter tho, cos of those nice sunny, dry days you get now and again. Never know when the mood might take me!
If I could afford a winter hack, on the other hand, I'd probably bike it much more often.

Re: Bike or car - noggythenog - 22-10-13

i have thought about a cheap 125 hack for going to work in the winter time but only really so i could say im an all year biker....i think the reality is that im not though...i get up so early that my 12 mile commute is deadly quiet & considering the speed of a 125 compared to my car id probably need to get up earlier & arrive later.

Plus after a 13 hour night shift i dont think id be in the right frame of mind to ride a bike home safely.

It still wont stop me getting a second bike though....just because i want one...ill think up an excuse at a later point Smile

Re: Bike or car - fireblake - 22-10-13

The traffic home was dreadful but still home in less than 30 minutes to do the 17 miles. When I get home I wanna go out again.
