New / replacement Mobile Phone - Robbie8666 - 15-10-13

I know this has been discussed in the past but any advice be great before I go & see the people in Phones4u / carphone wharehouse.

I've currently got a Nokia C1 phone on a monthly contract on Orange (EE). its over 2 years old & getting near the end of its life.
I dont want a smart phone really as i like the buttons rather than touch screen.

apart from a very early motorola have always had Nokia's.
must have's (apart from phone & text)
bluetooth so I can use handsfree kit
if i can get one that connects to t'interweb for facebook etc good!
Camera (doesn't have to have amazing graphics as this feature is more of taking pictures in emergeny)
not worried bout having small screen as really use it as a phone & texting

any advice?

What ever you do stay away from the Chinese spy phone range otherwise known as Huawei, its SHIT.

...but if you're after a tarrif that's FREE....yes, FREE!! then take a look at the Freedom tarrif from Ovivo mobile.  I've been using them for the past 6 months now, I paid £20 for the SIM (which gets added as credit) then it's £0 per month with 150 mins, 250 texts and 500mb of data.  Oh and if 2 of you have Ovivo SIMs then calls and texts are free, I took my number as well.

I was on Orange at about £15 per month for the same so I've saved £70 already since I got my Ovivo one.  Jeez, I sound like a salesman!!

Me and my wife have been using HTC One X and One X+ phones for last year. Great phone for going on net etc. Spot on the large side mind, but lovely screen. However the supposedly super strong Gorilla Glass screens are naff. Smashed my screen once, wife has smashed hers and I now have a crack in second phone. All from dropping the phone about 1m onto hard floor. Really should get myself a case...

Re: New / replacement Mobile Phone - Dead Eye - 17-10-13

Gorilla Glass is supposed to be scratch resistant not impact resistant... sounds like a salesman had you going on that one Sad

My Galaxy S2 (also Gorilla Glass) is still going strong on year 3 of its life and hasn't a scratch on it. I've dropped it numerous times but I do have it in a case Smile

Hmm, that looks interesting.

From what I can see, the only "cost" is that they stick an advert in when you start up a browser and that's it.

I've done some digging and found out that the network OVIVO use is Vodafone.

On that basis you should have excellent coverage across most of the UK and abroad should you wish to roam.

This really does seem like a very good offer for light users.

Re: New / replacement Mobile Phone - Tefer - 22-10-13

I'm on GiffGaff, had it over a year and i pay £10 a month for 500 mins, unlimited txts, 1gb of data, you also get 0800 numbers free. Just bought a sim free phone.

Had a couple of network glitches and took a while to pac over the number but apart from that its great, saved me about £200 over the term of a contract.

Re: New / replacement Mobile Phone - Robbie8666 - 22-10-13

thanks for the advice. i'm on orange network sim only. doesn't matter waht network really as when i'm home weekends signal s shite on all network but thats Cornwall for yer! lol

Correct, and all you do is just hit "back" quickly and click the link again.  I've had no problems with service/connection for 6 months now and I still can't get my head round the fact that it's costing me nowt...  :eek
