Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - psyfi_1 - 07-09-13 so do you have any tips on garages thats will be able to help me out???????? Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - darrsi - 07-09-13 Surely the person who messed it up should get it fixed? Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - Dead Eye - 07-09-13 I doubt many people on here have had such extensive work carried out on their bikes by a garage so may be reluctant to recommend anywhere... As far as garages go, I do recommend Morpheus Motorcycles in Kingswood, BUT they are small so a large project is likely to take them a fair while to complete Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - psyfi_1 - 07-09-13 hello mate i think i met you the other day im sorry if i interupted your lunch and thanks for the info by long time do you mean two weeks/ a month? Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - Dead Eye - 08-09-13 I would be impressed if you met me the other day as I currently live 160+ miles away from Bristol in Essex haha (moving back this month though) For duration, the only way you will get a definitive answer is to call up the garage / visit them and explain what needs to be done. They will be in the best position to give you a quote for the work that needs doing Their website is basic, but has the contact info you need ![]() Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - pilninggas - 08-09-13 In my experience a lot of Bike repair places in Bristol are only interested in servicing, chains&sprockets - the simple, hassle free stuff. I wonder if Morpheus will even want to look at engine which has already been fiddled with? Might be worth getting a manual and going at it yourself. What exactly is the problem? Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - Dead Eye - 08-09-13 This is very true, but if the OP doesn't have the mechanical skills then the sort of work he is talking about (rebuilding the front of the engine) isn't a task to start getting your hands dirty with some spanners Plus, it never hurts to ask - if they say its something they don't want to work on then that's their decision. Likewise, if their timescale / price isn't acceptable then the OP can simply not have the work done by them ![]() Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - pilninggas - 08-09-13 (08-09-13, 10:59 AM)Dead Eye link Wrote: This is very true, but if the OP doesn't have the mechanical skills then the sort of work he is talking about (rebuilding the front of the engine) isn't a task to start getting your hands dirty with some spanners True, i have no idea of the OP's competency or otherwise or resources at his disposal. Having said that we all have to start somewhere. Looks like he was royally ripped-off by the seller of the bike and his 'mechanic'. Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - darrsi - 08-09-13 My mechanical skills started with putting air in the tyres, not an engine rebuild! ![]() Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - noggythenog - 08-09-13 Psy, totally my opinion as im a complete novice.we all sound in agreement that youve sadly been shafted here & as much as that really sucks, the forums expertise is more biased towards individual advice about specific items & you dont seem to be getting much luck.actually Bristol seems a bit strangely thin on the ground with good mechanics if this post is anything to go by. It may make hard reading but being a regular visitor here, perfectly decent, good running fazers are going for £1000 & even less at times. Your bike clearly needs an unknown amount of money thrown at it & who knows what damage your earlier mechanic has done.yes he should be making things right but obviously cant be trusted so can see why you just want clear of him.thats your choice but limits the options. To hazard a guess id say youll be a minimum of £500 straight off & if no hitches. Could it be time to cut your losses. My idea - buy a complete second hand engine & gearbox, wait for one that is guaranteed to work. Better still - buy a cheap fully running fazer for £800 to £1000 & use your bike for any spares needed to get it to the same condition & selling any unwanted parts to make some tidy money back.you'll be surprised what money you could get back from good condition front fairing, fuel tank, plastics etc.forget the engine but sell the gearbox & carbs etc. Good luck! 8) Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - darrsi - 08-09-13 Who is this "nice man"? Is he actually a mechanic? Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - John Silva - 08-09-13 I would go to Morpheus Motorcycles in Kingswood first. Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - His Dudeness - 08-09-13 How do you know there's a problem with the cams and the valves? Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - red98 - 09-09-13 get a quote from a garage for the work and let us know....my guess ,it will be too expensive and replacement engine will be best bet....keep an eye on the for sale section as they do come up every now and again and theres always plenty of help on here if you want a hand in changing it ![]() Re: places in bristol that will fix up a fazer properly and not rip me off ......... - devilsyam - 09-09-13 the bike hut in bristol has a 600 motor |
