Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - Triggergee - 05-09-13 Does anyone have experience converting a 600 to a 1000 using the fzs1000 engine amongst other things. I want to know how straight forward fitting the engine is as well as using r6 swing arm+ wheel and r1 forks+ wheel....... Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - Punkstig - 05-09-13 I think you'll get numerous replies along the lines of buy a Thou and swap the forks/ swingarm etc on that instead of all that work on the 6 Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - darrsi - 05-09-13 Would there not be weight issues on the frame to take into consideration as well? Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - red98 - 05-09-13 just the size of the thou lump makes me think it wont fit ![]() Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - kebab19 - 05-09-13 Based on the likes of Bandit 1200 engines fitting into 600's? No chance without extensive welding, grinding etc as the 1000 engine barely fits the original bike's frame. Even then you would have to ask yourself - would the 600's frame be able to handle another 40-50hp? Also, virtually every part is different bar the front brake calipers - so it would probably end up costing twice as much as buying a 1000 in the first place, difficult (or at least expensive) to insure and it's unlikely anyone would buy it afterwards. Although potentially do-able, it makes as much sense as Millyard joining two Z1300 engines together v12 kawa Just sell your 600 & buy a 1000 Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - Triggergee - 07-09-13 Cheers guys, I know it seems like a lot of work, I just like one off customs and it would make a kick ass fzs! Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - Lumpy - 07-09-13 Don't listen to them, do it, creativity is dying and fair play for trying it. 7f it won't work look for something else. Good luck Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - mr self destruct - 07-09-13 (07-09-13, 09:10 AM)Triggergee link Wrote: Cheers guys, I know it seems like a lot of work, I just like one off customs and it would make a kick ass fzs! That's all very well, but it'll still look like a Fazer if you know what I mean. Rather than say 'don't bother', I say if you're going to all the trouble of cutting & welding the frame etc. make something incredible! ![]() Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - Dead Eye - 07-09-13 I don't know... there is a certain appeal to being in something conservative from the outside to then leave others having to pick up their jaw after you speed off... Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - nick crisp - 07-09-13 A nicely done Katana conversion - GSX1400 lump. Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - darrsi - 07-09-13 May as well go the whole hog and slip a Triumph Rocket engine in the frame, i'm sure it'll fit with a bit of nipping and tucking. It would probably be easier to fit the frame into that engine rather than the engine into the frame, lol Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - darrsi - 07-09-13 (07-09-13, 03:42 PM)Punkstig link Wrote:
It would probably be easier to fit the frame into that engine rather than the engine into the frame, lol
Somebody rode one into my work and i couldn't believe how the engine consisted of so much metal, it's just a huge lump! :eek Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - nick crisp - 07-09-13 It'd be interesting to see what more modern, larger capacity, physically smaller & lighter engine you could put in. I wonder if the MT-09 motor would be a good candidate. Having owned a mk2 VW Golf GL with a 200bhp VR6 engine I totally see where you're coming from, but a Fazer 600 looks identical to a 1000 anyway, so it wouldn't look any more conservative really. :\ Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - slimwilly - 07-09-13 Yes, you are just trying to make something that already exists, good thinking but get a bit more original,,get thinking more,,get a Guzzi or something. I know a man who made this incredible machine that you put wood chips in, it went through a dryer, then a huge compressor to make wood logs,a years work,,,more problems than you could imagine,,now the farmer who rented him the shed, told me,,"stupid fool,he is just making WOOD, " knowing that there is already wood. Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - nick crisp - 07-09-13 Maybe it gave him a woody... ![]() Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - noggythenog - 07-09-13 Wouldnt this actually be classed as a downgrade? ![]() Almost like painting a Silver bike Blue! :o Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - nick crisp - 07-09-13 (07-09-13, 07:57 PM)noggythenog link Wrote: Wouldnt this actually be classed as a downgrade? Yes, fitting a 600 chassis would definitely be downgrading a gen 1... Re: Fazer 600 to fazer 1000 conversion - JoeRock - 09-09-13 Just buy a 1000 and swap the forks and swingers on that, would be a shed load easier and still have the same result, just the frame can (well, just about) take the power of the 1000! |
