Boxeye fairing and lamps - Gromit - 17-08-13 Hi guys, my 2000 boxeye has been vandalised by mindless fools. The nose fairing and headlight unit is smashed beyond repair. Finding a new fairing seems to be near impossible. I was wondering if the foxeye fairing and lamp unit is easily compatable with the boxeye fairing frame or would it all need changing? Re: Boxeye fairing and lamps - noggythenog - 17-08-13 As far as i know it is the wiring that is different, possibly another couple of bits and bobs also, definately not a straight swap, certainly not something id feel confident about doing myself but if you got a foxeye fairing and light unit at a decent price it might be still worthwhile paying someone to do the mod for you. if you use the search function along the top of the forum you should be able to find previous posts about the mod to get you started, on the plus side you would also have better lights as they are far superior to the boxeye units. cheers fras Re: Boxeye fairing and lamps - darrsi - 17-08-13 Look on Ebay for "FZS 600 breaking" and send a few of them emails, they may not have bothered listing every part available. Or do a free UK Bike Breaker search. Re: Boxeye fairing and lamps - Gromit - 17-08-13 I can get my hands on them at a reasonable price and with alot of travelling in the dark the improvement on.the lights would be a huge bonus. Re: Boxeye fairing and lamps - noggythenog - 17-08-13 i had a quick cursory search & found the following previous thread from someone in a similar situation. note Deefers reply, i do believe Deefer breaks fazers so he may be able to help you with the fairing part. take a look http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,578.msg3257.html#msg3257 Re: Boxeye fairing and lamps - Punkstig - 17-08-13 There's a couple of different designs available but as a cheap temporary fix I'd go for something like this- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-DASH-UNIVERSAL-SPORTS-FAIRING-HEADLIGHT-CBN-/310131134769?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4835419131 Not pretty but helps having indicators included and gives you time to hold out till a cheap fazer fairing and headlight turns up. Either that or a fork mounted headlight, but buying that plus the bracket plus indicators probably works out similar £'s to the above Re: Boxeye fairing and lamps - Gromit - 17-08-13 Ive got a lamp and stuff temporaily bodged up at the moment. Ridable but not pretty. Re: Boxeye fairing and lamps - limax2 - 17-08-13 Yes can be done and a big bonus is better lights. It involves some addition to the wiring and some fairly simple extra brackets for the sides of the fairing. You will also need the main mounting bracket at the front to suit the foxeye fairing because that is much different. This has been well covered here http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,5252.0.html (by myself and others ![]() Re: Boxeye fairing and lamps - davec - 18-08-13 As Limax says this conversion is not as difficult as it appears.Once you have studied the wiring diagram and properly understand it it makes sense. All the information to do it is in the thread. The hardest thing is sourcing all of the parts,it took me a couple of years. The mounting bracket was probably the trickiest thing to find.Once it's done it's well worth it.You just need to take your time and think about what you're doing. |
