I was kinda learning as I went! Re: Did anyone go meteor shower watching? - chaz - 13-08-13 forgot about it, is it on tonight, if so where? is that Orion? in your photo? Re: Did anyone go meteor shower watching? - mr self destruct - 13-08-13 Didn't take any pics but the wife and I watched from our garden. Saw a few and the space station fly by. I reminded her that this time last year we were lying back, watching the same stars, drinking champagne, on the bow of a narrowboat, on the Mon-Brec canal, on our honeymoon. Man I'm smooth! ![]() Re: Did anyone go meteor shower watching? - mr self destruct - 13-08-13 (13-08-13, 04:17 PM)chaz link Wrote: forgot about it, is it on tonight, if so where? is that Orion? in your photo? It peaked last night but there should be some around tonight. Look north and slightly west for the origin (in the constellation of Perseus, hence their name), but they pretty much appear all over. Re: Did anyone go meteor shower watching? - ChristoT - 13-08-13 Went up Danesbury hill on Sunday night with some friends. Spent a couple of hours, watching the skies and joshing around. 6 definites, and many probables!!! :lol :lol Re: Did anyone go meteor shower watching? - Tori - 13-08-13 (13-08-13, 03:49 PM)Jazz999 link Wrote: I was out for a cpl hours and got some ok ish shots of stars but didn't catch any meteors :-( struggled with focus tbh. I was kinda learning as I went! You need to set your lens to infinity if it's a dslr, auto focusing can be a nightmare, unless the moon is out and you can get a decent focus on that which helps. No, no Orion as far as I know! ![]() Re: Did anyone go meteor shower watching? - Jazz999 - 13-08-13 Yeah had mine on MF but dunno about infinity, I'd have to check the book! It's a canon 600D and it was using the standard 18-55mm lens. Re: Did anyone go meteor shower watching? - rustyrider - 13-08-13 Stepped out the back door for a fag before going to bed about midnight and saw one fly overhead. Got the camera and tripod out, set it all up and sat there for another 30 minutes and saw nothing. Decided to give up, took the camera off the tripod and another one flew over. Bugger! True, but when it's sunny I don't think there's a more beautiful part of Wales. You're a lucky guy to call it home. ![]() |
