Lowering kit - redlog - 06-08-13
HI every one this is my first posting so for give me if the question has been asked
I have a 2001 fzs 1000 fazor ,just brought a 45mm lowering kit ,does this mean i need to
lower the forks as well ?and if so how much ? And will this affect the handling and performance of the bike
any feed back would be good

Many of us fit jack-up kits to speed up steering response, conversely your lowering kit will make the bike steer more slowly, dropping the forks will help to put more weight on the front and reduce the negative effects of lowering the rear - dropping by about 10-12mm is the usual amount. I've found the best way to drop the forks is to support the weight of the bike on a car jack, loosen the clamp bolts then lower the bike using the jack to control how far the bike slides down the fork legs, takes about 10 minutes.

Lowered mine by 30mm, didn't like it, scraped the pegs too readily on roundabouts and corners. Ended up putting it back to standard and dropped the forks 30mm instead. For me, and this is always a personal preference, it feels much better.

What the others say. 45mm is a big drop - might be worth looking at lowering your seat if the height is an issue because I suspect it will be like riding a chopper.
