FZ1-S side stand - locksmith - 05-08-13

Quick question about my side stand.
Noticed yesterday that there is a bit of flex/movement at the top of the stand where the bolt is that holds it on.
The bolt isn't noticeably loose.
Is that how's it meant to be or does it need tightening?

I would try tightening the bolts first (the pivot bolt, and the screws that mount the stand hanger to the bike too).
Has the stand had any undue stress (poor tie-down methods on a ferry / trailer or similar) or has the bike had any impact?

The sidestand tube is pretty thin (my sidestand was sheared after losing an argument with a car while parked up at work).

Bike has been tied down recently, and last year and the year before that :lol
Just happened to notice it "loose" on Sunday.
I'll have to dig the book out and look up the torque settings, got to change the oil and give her a once over anyway!

Mine's been like that from new. If you're unhappy with it you could always shim it.

Just goes to show, 6 years and 2 FZ1's and I'd never noticed it before :lol
Wonder why it's like it?
