"Waterproof" boots - Andy Clap - 31-07-13 So, I bought some long Weise waterproof boots. First 55 mile commute in decent rain (with Spada waterproof trousers and Frank Thomas oversuit) and both feet were soaking. I changed them for some long JTS waterproof boots, next 55 mile commute in decent rain, same clothing, both feet soaking again! Am I just really unlucky, or are "waterproof" boots shite, or do my feet sweat like a tap with all my protective gear on?!!! Re: "Waterproof" boots - Bitfik - 31-07-13 Got a pair of Alpinestars boots. Leather with goretex lining and find them pretty comfy all year. Sadly on my way home tonight I was wearing workboots and Kevlar reinforced jeans. It was such a beautiful morning here lol... Soaked through on the waŷ home! Oops! Re: "Waterproof" boots - Punkstig - 31-07-13 Nothing has ever been better than my Datona's! Re: "Waterproof" boots - stevierst - 31-07-13 Gore-tex, gore-tex, gore-tex! Had a pair of Hein Gericke tuareg gore tex boots for 10 years, been in some hideous monsoons and never leaked! Either that, or Altberg boots. They'll last forever, and will not leak! Re: "Waterproof" boots - Skippernick - 31-07-13 I have those Weise boots, but i know that they are not goretex so only really shower proof. For waterproof read goretex. Even then with the added speed factor might not be perfect. My Sidi boots were waterproof for 1 year only, now leak a bit around the toes. I wouldn't buy Alpinestars ever again, I've had their waterproof oversuits and gloves and both worked for about 1 year months before leaking, just out of warranty. The first set of gloves they replaced as they failed from day 1. Re: "Waterproof" boots - Mark YPVS - 31-07-13 I still use my Sidi Black Rain since 2001 and they still don't leak ![]() Mark Re: "Waterproof" boots - taylor - 31-07-13 a pair of wellingtons, job done for a tenna, Re: "Waterproof" boots - nick crisp - 31-07-13 Derry boots!! Well, if you don't mind doing things like popping down to the newsagents in the morning in your p.j.s and slippers... Re: "Waterproof" boots - mickvp - 31-07-13 I must admit, my hein gericke goretex ankle boots have never once let water in (I struggle getting my cankles into proper boots) Re: "Waterproof" boots - chris.biker - 31-07-13 I have had a couple of pairs of Buffalo boots ( from Hein-Gericke) they have been stayed water proof worn everyday to and from work and on some long wet weekend rides. I got made redundant again last October, but no need to spend any of the new payoff on boots this time as the old ones are still working fine! It's not just because they are super comfy & they don't leak that I love them, but it's also the sheer level of craftsmanship that have gone into them that even 18 years later still gives me a feelgood moment every time I slip them on. ![]() Re: "Waterproof" boots - mtread - 31-07-13 As said - Goretex Goretex Goretex. I'm using TCX X-Tour Goretex. Worst rain in living memory in Germany in May (the floods were on the news). Result - feet bone dry. £180 well spent. Re: "Waterproof" boots - Punkstig - 31-07-13 I have never, ever had another pair of boots that are just so dam comfortable as the Daytona's, I'm on the road star gtx's atm (2nd hand eBay) the soles are warn through and they squelch when walking but still dry feet, considering the miles they've done on the bike and walking up and down stairs all day they're awesome. It's £110 to send them off to be re-soled but as they were 2nd hand and I never looked after them (never cleaned or used the water repellant stuff) I'm going to buy a new pair and look after the new ones! Well worth the money for being in them all day at least 250 days a year! Re: "Waterproof" boots - Strifae - 31-07-13 My aldi boots are 3 years old and still 100% waterproof Ridden in torrential rain etc Only £29.99 I think... No "tex" of any kind lol Re: "Waterproof" boots - seangee - 31-07-13 Alpinestars web goretex. Wear em every day and have't leaked a drop in 4 years. Comfy too. Re: "Waterproof" boots - unfazed - 01-08-13 Sidi goretex. Worn every day and have never leaked. They are now over 4 years old. Re: "Waterproof" boots - chaz - 02-08-13 don't tuck your legging in your boots :lol Re: "Waterproof" boots - notoriusb.e.n - 02-08-13 Also for Daytona's. best £300 you'll ever put on your feet, money well spent for comfort, never get wet feet, and can walk around in them all day too if you need to. |
