Exhaust size - lee741 - 31-07-13 hi all, I'm about to buy a new Beowulf exhaust but not sure whether to buy a 380mm or 450mm silencer? any input would be appreciated thank Lee Re: Exhaust size - darrsi - 31-07-13 Shorter one will be a stubby one and a bit noisier. The bigger one will have a deeper tone to it, more of a rumble. Re: Exhaust size - Punkstig - 31-07-13 If you want to annoy the neighbours go for the short one! Re: Exhaust size - darrsi - 31-07-13 Here's 2 examples, both on my bike, different makes of exhaust but you'll get the general idea. The Quill exhaust is unbaffled, and believe it or not the Moto GP is baffled. It was legal with the baffle in, it has the BSAU markings and is on the border of the noise limit. Re: Exhaust size - lee741 - 31-07-13 thanks for the replies and vids. so it's down to how much i like my neighbours ![]() Re: Exhaust size - darrsi - 31-07-13 (31-07-13, 10:57 PM)lee741 link Wrote: thanks for the replies and vids. so it's down to how much i like my neighbours You've got me thinking now, as i have the carbs running really sweet i may try the Moto GP again and see if the bike runs better? I was never totally happy with "something" but maybe a tweek was all it needed? Never did like my neighbour anyway......miserable sod at the best of times :lol Re: Exhaust size - lee741 - 31-07-13 I'm thinking short one, looks good and a bit of pay back for all the loud cheesy music that keeps me awake when i got work the next day ![]() just got to decide on black or carbon fibre look now lol Re: Exhaust size - darrsi - 01-08-13 (31-07-13, 11:29 PM)lee741 link Wrote: I'm thinking short one, looks good and a bit of pay back for all the loud cheesy music that keeps me awake when i got work the next day Sorry...........but if they keep you awake? :rolleyes May i suggest an alternative? ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gmol26qMTxY Re: Exhaust size - nick crisp - 01-08-13 Didn't know Suzuki had updated the B-King :lol Re: Exhaust size - Strifae - 01-08-13 I ran the Beowulf Warrior on my FZS600 - it sounded awesome without the baffle - especially when wound on (sounded AWESOME) this was a "stubby" can Re: Exhaust size - Dead Eye - 01-08-13 I have a 380mm Beowulf Warrior on mine at the moment, I made a video a while back (before the disaster ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw-ATb1iqB8 Re: Exhaust size - darrsi - 01-08-13 Are the Beowulf cans marked up and road legal (obviously with baffle inserted)? Yep Re: Exhaust size - darrsi - 01-08-13 My Quill is an old straight through race can with no markings on it, and i recently added a cut down baffle to it, but i didn't like the sound of it so removed it. Handy for MOT's although he's passed it no problems before. The good thing about it is that it has a reasonably quiet rumble when riding around normally, and only starts screaming when i give it a bit of welly. The Moto GP is just loud, then louder, then louder still. Which is okay for fun value, but can get tiresome on the ears on a motorway for instance, which was why i put the Quill back on. It's all legal though with the baffle in, surprisingly! I've never actually tried riding without the baffle in though, maybe i should give it a go? :think Re: Exhaust size - Dead Eye - 01-08-13 Yep, the Beowulf can I have has all the BSAU markings on it albeit they are slightly crispy still ![]() Its a very nice sounding can and suits my preference of something with a bit more of a bass tone to it. The only other exhaust I've heard and liked as much as mine was whatever Punkstig has currently got attached - it sounded pretty nice so maybe he can enlighten us if he sees this thread ![]() Re: Exhaust size - darrsi - 02-08-13 Just refitted my Moto GP can, took the baffle out, gave the throttle one blip then immediately proceeded to put the baffle back in. The noise was absolutely obscene, and as much as i want to try it on the road unbaffled there's no way i'm even gonna bother. I reckon the first copper who heard it would stop me, and i can't be doing with that. Re: Exhaust size - Dead Eye - 03-08-13 Go on, live a little :evil |
