Starter button issue - fazerboy01 - 21-07-13 Ok, so Ive got a Mk1.5 FZS600 Fazer, Y Reg, 2001. The bike rarely starts off the button now. If it's cold or very hot Temperature wise like this week or our winter, it wont start on the button, if it's mild-ish, then its a 50 - 50 chance. I've fitted a 2nd hand switch gear and relay that I bought off Matty some time back when he broke his bike, and they havn't worked. The bike is also fitted with a datatool system 3 alarm. After changing the switch and relay I thought it might be the alarm, but Ive somehow talked myself out of that. Any idea's would be a great help, or even how I can check my relays and stuff. To get around this problem, and so I dont have to bumpstart it all the time, I've fitted a momentary switch under the seat, but obviously that Isnt ideal. Thank you in advance Re: Starter button issue - simonm - 21-07-13 (21-07-13, 06:08 AM)fazerboy01 link Wrote: Ok, so Ive got a Mk1.5 FZS600 Fazer, Y Reg, 2001. It sounds like you've answered your own question. If you have a switch under the seat and it works 100% of the time then it's not the alarm or relays, it's mechanical failure of the contact. At least that's how I read your post. Sorry if I've missed anything obvious. Re: Starter button issue - fazerboy01 - 21-07-13 No need to be sorry, thats pretty much what I was thinking, towards the alarm anyhow! the switch is connected to the starter solonoid, so not sure where to start now lol but thanks for your input, it is appreciated. Since you replaced the switch gear getting to the contacts for a circuit should be fine. You can just put a 12v battery and bulb in line if you don't have a multimeter. |
