Most people seem to use the front brake 90+%more than the rear, so is there any point in getting braided rear hoses ?

Not if the last lofo ride was anything to go by - where's that bloody ABS :lol

I say yes, for all of the reasons above. The rear braided hose takes more getting used to than the front as there is less feel through your boots than your gloves. Easy to lock the wheel. But once you get to grips with it - BOO-YA!!! Stopping power that makes you have to hold on like never before. Also, it helps stabilise the bike in bends, with real feedback from the rear wheel (unlike the rubber sponge). I would say I use the rear more like 30% than 10%. What about the rest of you?

To be honest, I changed both front and back last year for braided and didnt notice a great deal of difference. Brakes were good before and still are. Ive put braided hoses on most bikes Ive ever had but must confess I think it probably made less difference on the Fazer than most bikes Ive had. Does look good though!! Big Grin

Also they last longer than the rubber hoses so ongoing maintenance is easier. Useful when you keep the bike for 13 years or more

Isn't there a supposed to be a service interval of something like 4-6 years on the hoses themselves? Based on that point they should be changed Smile

Re: rear braided hose poll - nick crisp - 19-07-13

Yes, because the rubber supposedly deteriorates. But probably they recommend it earlier than is usually necessary - got to cover their backs a bit, which is understandable from their point of view.

Very true but I'd expect 80%+ of the 9-15 year old bikes are still on original hoses Tongue

Re: rear braided hose poll - nick crisp - 19-07-13

Bound to lose some braking performance on original hoses in that time.

I did because the previous owner had done the front and left the original on the rear. Bike was 8 years old when I bought it so figured the hose needed changing anyway.

Yup, easier to do the mad skids!

Already fitted to the bike when I bought it  Smile

Still got the OE rubber brake hoses on my 2004 Fazer thou.

Just changed the front on my crf250l as the rubber hoses were shockingly bad! Rear hose on order, mainly just to match the front though as the back brake dont feel too bad. Could be because the rear line is a hell of a lot shorter than the huuuge looping front line.
