Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative to Yamaha's headstock bearing wrench? 9089001403
Seems a bit dear for what it is.

There's a guy on eBay who sells these. Got one for my Suzuki a couple of years ago. His user name name might be something like old school suzuki, but just do a search for a headstock tool and I'm sure you'll find him.

It says it does a 40mm nut. Could someone please measure their steering stem nut? I won't get a chance to check mine for at least a week

Screwdriver and hammer has always worked for me, although obviously you can't buy adjustable torque hammers!

No that's not what I was suggesting. This is what it looks like and only 8 quid more. Means you can torque it up properly. Drop him a message and ask if he does one for the Fazer. If not he will probably make you one for FREE if you send him the nut. That's how I got mine for my Daytona 675.

The socket style one is probably handier but there is a slot in the back of the one I stuck up for a 1/2" wrench so you use it with a torque wrench too. Looks similar to the yamaha one in the part number

I cut down an old Hagon rear shock C spanner and cut a square holein it to fit the 3/8 drive. Works great.
