Electrical problem - bigfootpete - 09-07-13

After smacking into the back of a stationary car around a blind corner and dropping the bike on the right side,
my right indicator is not working.

The bulb is ok as is the wiring, however, the bulb for the sidelight has blown - that wouldn't cause the indicator
circuit to fail would it?

Have you confirmed 12v actual at the bulb socket, Pete?  Everything may look OK on the wiring but have you put a test meter to it?

I don't have a metre, so I can't check. :-)

I need to check the forks checked just in case, so will get the mechanic to check it at the same time, thanks.

Just make a simple tester out of another 12v bulb (you can use one of the side lights as they have little wires that you can attach too). And then test the circuit from the indicator stalk back towards the loom connector.

Off the top pf m,y and like falcon has mention it probably just a broken/snapped wire inside the stalk.

All sorted thanks!

I dismantled the unit, and tested with the bulb on the wires which showed it was getting power, ended up jiggling the spring and wire that contacts the bulb
and that fixed the problem.
