Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - Arfa - 04-07-13 The alarm on my bike has started playing up. It no longer sounds. No beeping when armed or disarmed. And I can't get it to trigger when rocking the bike once armed (and after the initial 10 secs). However the indicator lights still flash as before when arming/disarming and the immobiliser still works. Any ideas? Have I enabled one of it's obscure modes of operation or is there a genuine fault? Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - slappy - 04-07-13 Rip it out now before the immobiliser fails and leaves you stranded, what you describe is how mine acted before failing completly. If you search for alarms on this forum you should find a no cost way to bypass the alarm with a couple of lengths of wire, I did this and it is a very easy permanent fix. I think the post that showed the correct way to do it was by Chitsu. Apologies to Chitsu in advance if I am wrong. Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - Tiberius Onklevaart - 04-07-13 Phone meta and they will give you the number for the bike guy they use. He's sound. He did advise me to rip mine out, was a 358 I think. Old system, once it goes its fucked, he says. I googled and got number from their uk site Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - Arfa - 04-07-13 Eeek, dunna sound good. Yeah Meta have put me in touch with a chap called Bazil. Will see what he reckons. That said, I did manage to trigger the alarm today, albeit lights only, no sound. Was through activating ignition. Not been able to trigger it via movement. Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - cambo - 05-07-13 How long have you had it? Got mine 4 weeks ago tomorrow with brand new Meta 357tv2 fitted by the shop, i had a Datatool System3 on my last bike, (SV650 05) and had no problems at all during the 3 years i had it. Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - Arfa - 05-07-13 It was fitted from new, so around 10 years! Spoke to Bazil, reckons it just needs the main unit replacing. Gonna cost me £200 as rest of wiring and installation is in place and should be good. Will be an expensive month. Puncture in back tyre earlier this week, MOT and major service due next week and now £200 for alarm. ![]() ![]() Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - Pat - 05-07-13 (05-07-13, 01:37 PM)Arfa link Wrote: It was fitted from new, so around 10 years! £200?!? Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - Pat - 05-07-13 Bypass instructions can be found here: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,4493.msg38000.html#msg38000 Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - Arfa - 05-07-13 Hmmm, interesting. So am I right in saying I just yank the loom out of the old alarm, shove it in that new one and then just cable tie the thing safe and sound? Then just swap key fobs. Is that it? Seems to be even cheaper ones on ebay... Re: Issues with alarm Meta 357Tv2 - Arfa - 10-07-13 Bingo. Just swapped new control box in. Half hour job, dead easy. Ordered it from Abacus Alarms linked above. By gum, new alarm is loud, far more than old one was (before it died). Top stuff chaps! |
