Thunderace wheel - Superfour Tom - 02-07-13 Whats involved with Swapping the rear wheel out for a Thunderace one? I know it has been done and somewhere i read whats involved but as i cane to buy a wheel i cannot fine the info anywhere. Im guessing the bearings are the only issue so far. Fazer 20x47x14 yzf 28x52x12 So.. I would need 20x52x14/12??, right? This is the the fazer spindle. Re: Thunderace wheel - kebab19 - 03-07-13 Could you not just stick a 170/60 tyre on the existing Fazer wheel? You may need to switch swingarms. I know some TRX850 owners fitted 5.5" width YZF750 wheels onto their standard swingarms & encountered clearance issues with the 180 section tyre. Not sure if the TRX swingarm is the same width as the Fazer's.....unfortunately I did have a TRX swingarm but the boss made me clear the garage out so cant measure it :-( http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?topic=2078.0 Re: Thunderace wheel - Dead Eye - 03-07-13 There was a 180/55 tyre on my Fazer when I bought it (original wheel though) so fit shouldn't be much of an issue Pretty sure it wasn't safe, but I wasn't the numpty who put a cheap set of wrong sized tyres on the bikeĀ :rolleyes Re: Thunderace wheel - bozboz - 05-07-13 Fitting a different rear wheel with an extra 1cm on the chain side might cause chain line 'issues' (rubbing on the tyre or inside of the frame) might be worth considering. Either that or it might be just a bit close for comfort (mot issues?) |
