Hi Jason,

I ordered it online here:

http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/fzs_600_fazer_sp/02-03/

If you look for "Sprocket Front Retaining Nut Kit (OEM)" you'll see it's described as:

"This is the OEM Yamaha Nut and washer kit 90891-10124-00, the later up rated kit for earlier bikes with the troublesome thinner nut."

http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/yamaha/fzs_600_fazer_sp/02-03/picture/sprocket_front_retaining_nut_kit_oem/

I'm told you can probably get it for free from your dealer and save a tenner, but another option for you if more convenient and shows part number at least.

Andy

What's wrong with the front sprockets then, and  does it affect all years? Mines a 2003 fox eye

They either seize/weld themselves on, come loose or just disappear completely.

You need to upgrade the 9mm wide nut to a 12mm wide nut and washer kit, part number 90891-10124

Personally i would get it changed next time you renew your chain and sprockets just for peace of mind, or asap if you're the worrying type.

Its £2-44 exactly from my local Yamaha dealer-pick up. Very small price for peace of mind!

Re: NOT FRONT SPROCKET NUT AGAIN - garyb - 14-07-13

Just checked mine after reading this thread and it's not good news, the 9mm nut was loose and only being held on by the tab washer.

I tried to tighten it up again but it won't (i.e. it will thread along the shaft fine but it won't fully tighten up at the end)

Looks like the thread on the nut is worn and thankfully not the thread on the output shaft.

Asides from ordering the new bigger nut is there anything else I can do with this in the short term as a temporary fix?

Apart from not riding it, not really

Re: NOT FRONT SPROCKET NUT AGAIN - darrsi - 14-07-13

It's too dangerous to start attempting any kind of short term fix, and the fact that you now know about it is more than enough to suggest getting it sorted properly.
If anything went badly wrong while you were riding it you wouldn't forgive yourself.

Thanks your right, I'll stick it in the shed until the new nut and tab arrive.
