Wanted for FZS 1000 (gen1): Cam, Clutch, Timing & Generator covers (in black) - b1k3rdude - 25-06-13

Evening

As a result of some staining by the local hand washing place - http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,8491.0.html, I am preemting the possible need for some replacement covers.

So if anyone has some or all of the above cover in good to mint condition in black please drop me a pm.

Obviously to change the covers they all need removing, so once removed what would it cost to repaint yours compared to buying others? Just a thought.

As I see it,  I have 4 options.
  • Powder coating is the cheapest, but 1. it cant be colour matched,  2. I have yet to see a finish thats good enough and 3. I've never seen satin black in PC - guess £50-70
  • Painting would be better, but getting a correct colour match may be an issue even though the colour is black and cost double the PC coast - guess £70-100
  • Good condition covers from the forum or ebay, but most breakers tend to sell old tat and take the piss on price. Even so its only a 3rd as much on the paint cost above and will be a perfect match.
  • Or lastly get a good set of here at a reasonable price.

place in wales Aquagrafix as i recall very pleased with stuff they have done for me

These people do the Carbon look coating (among other stuff), they were on Wheeler dealers a few months back.

Have email them for a quote, sent pics of 2 spare covers I have with measurments - they said they can do satin black.

In the meantime, Im still on the look out for s/h covers as Im not entirly convinced that PC, Painting, Dipping with be as touch as the oem paint.

Are you kidding?! OEM paint is about one molecule thick! If you sneeze too near it, it falls off! I'd be more interested to know if whatever coating will resist road salt in our crappy winters, or at least be easy to clean leaving the surface intact.

Depends on how the bike is looked after, as you can see from the pics the paint on mine has lasted quick well over 8yrs. I got a quote back from that dipping place £190, which I will give a miss as I can get all 4 covers in good to mint cond. off ebay for £250 or powder coated for a shit load less than that. But first Im gonna ask my local sprayer to see what price he can do.

In the meantime, still looking for them thar covers..
