meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - adam1000 - 22-06-13 my gen 1 fazer 1000 came with a meta alarm/immobiliser fitted and worked fine until a couple of weeks ago. then one day just decided to do nothing! i meen nothing! doesn't respond to the fob, no flashing led, doesn't self arm, doesn't immobilise the bike, no alarm, it's as if there is no alarm fitted! i am riding the bike as usual but it's niggling me that sooner or later its going to pack up all together and leave me stranded! i've looked at removing it but it appears to be apart of the system and looks a big job. Any ideas? has anyone else had this problem? Re: meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - steeeve66 - 22-06-13 My Gen1 came with a Meta fitted and that too started playing up, not in the same way as yours but I had it removed all the same - cost me 60 quid due to it not being terribly complicated. Re: meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - adam1000 - 22-06-13 I rang a local yamaha dealer for a rough idea on how much to remove they quoted £150+ £60 sounds a bit more realistic! was that a yamaha dealer? Re: meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - steeeve66 - 22-06-13 Jesus no! Definitely not. I went to a local outfit just outside Dartford. Any decent bike garage should be able to cope - the price for removal will depend on how well it was fitted - the better the job was done the more time it will take to remove and, it follows, the more it will cost. Re: meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - karlo - 22-06-13 Only paid £140 for a new unit for mine. http://bikealarmman.com/ Re: meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - adam1000 - 22-06-13 cheers Karlo, think i'll give him a ring and see how much to remove it! Re: meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - Pat - 22-06-13 Removing an alarm is pretty straightforward if you've got a copy of the bike's wiring diagram & can work logically to reconnect the cut wires. Alternatively, you could just bypass it by following the following instructions in this thread: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,4493.msg38000.html#msg38000 Re: meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - unfazed - 23-06-13 Which model of Meta is it? If it is the 357TV2 you could buy a brand new replacement for around £100. Unplug the original and plug in the new one. Comes with new red code card and new fobs Seems strange that the imobiliser is not working as a dead alarm will normally imobilise the bike. Re: meta alarm/immobiliser fault???? - marcusfordus - 23-06-13 I've removed loads of alarms, and the meta is an easy one. There isn't one on my Fazer but the OE plugs and linked out sockets are still there for one. 3 minutes to disconnect one wired through it like that. Not a bad earner for the dealer :eek |
