just found these aftermarket exup cables on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZS-1000-Fazer-2001-2005-Exhaust-Valve-Cable-Pull-Push-/380661006290?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item58a129ffd2 don't know what they are like but maybe worth a try?
