Speed sensor - sprocket change - FazerBob144 - 13-06-13 Hi everyone, I guess you can call me a born again biker as I've just bought a 03 FZS600 after a very long time away! Thinking of changing the sprocket ratio to 17-46 from the std 15-48 to drop the revs for motorway cruising. As the 03 bike uses a front wheel speed sensor can this be a straight swap of the sprockets or do I need a gizmo to recalibrate the speedo? Re: Speed sensor - sprocket change - darrsi - 13-06-13 Sprockets have not got anything to do with the speedo, it's more to do with revolutions of the front wheel. Re: Speed sensor - sprocket change - Razgruff - 14-06-13 :agree the only thing that will effect the speedo is if you change the size of the front wheel for a smaller of larger one. changing sprockets just changes the gearing Re: Speed sensor - sprocket change - bwizz - 14-06-13 Hi I have an unused smaller rear sprocket if you are interested. think its a 46 Re: Speed sensor - sprocket change - Dead Eye - 14-06-13 I thought the standard sprockets were 15F 45R ? Not on the fzs600, its always been a unique digital speedo taken from the front whell, but yes there are quite a few bikes out there that use a sensor on the output shaft which would need an adjuster when changing gearing so can understand you're question! |
