That the same socket set as my local B&Q were selling last year...
I almost bought one..But ended up buying a draper expert socket set instead..

Most of the Halfords Advanced tools are pretty good and worth the money
I don't really like their socket wrenches, but its a minor complaint - they function perfectly well 
I unfortunately already have a large set of sockets, spanners and an array of other tools

Or am I over thinking things, and it doesn't really matter?

I would recommend 6 point as there is less chance of the socket slipping which I've had happen a few times with 12 pointed sockets - to be fair though, I have a set of each both metric and imperial

got a fair bit of the halfords expert stuff,just need to find an expert to use it :lol ...good tools , no complaints....also got a torq toolbox.not over inpressed with that but is doing the job...excellent warranty with that halfords kit you wont get that with the torq stuff

I have some Halford tools in my kit which were bought thirty years ago, I maintain my own car and biker, they have also been used by a professional (me! well I was repairing equipment and being paid to do it) they are still going strong. The main thing to look for is that tools are chrome vanadium steel. If you take the gamble on cheap tools it a right bugger if they let you down mid job.

Can't ignore quality kit with a lifetime warranty with 100 squids knocked off either.
Not that I'm tight but it ticked all the boxes for scrooge mcnair.

Yeah because other companies etch 'halfords advanced' on each piece in the case ?
A credit card statement would suffice too.
I do save all the receipts for items with a lifetime warranty tho tbh. They need scanning too as thermal paper lasts about as long as an election promise.
sometimes I'm lazy and I just take a photo of it :-)

Most of my current kit is Torq and I agree - the tools themselves aren't that bad but the case is useless
It was a cheap(er) alternative when I was replacing all of my tools after the fire. The equivalent Halfords kit would have been 2-3x more expensive. Its serving me well though, no rounded bolts, nothing snapped or bent etc so its proving itself to be worth the money Did a gearbox swap on my cage and an engine out and back in on the Fazer with it all

I like the Halfords professional tools as well.
I did read somewhere that the warranty doesn't cover the ratchet driver as that is a wear and tear item, don't know if thats true or not!
Don't understand why they put non metric stuff in nowdays though. Hardly anyone needs AF do they?

comes in handy sometimes...if you`ve got a worn/rounded 13mm nut you can wedge a 1/2 on it

I suppose there is that!
Me thinks they are missing a trick. They could leave the AF stuff out and lower the price point to make it look better value and sell an AF set for the people who need it and charge a premium price for it!

ot actually the case - mines a couple years old and I snapped a 6mm alan key bit (its the one I use by far the most to be fair), shop back home was a bit arsy about exchanging it without the receipt so I got in contact with the head office who gave me a nicely worded letter telling them to just do it! Haven't even needed the letter up here in Leicester, I just pop in when something breaks (it's the 6mm alan keys, I go through them at a rate of knots) and they just swap it over!
