fazer 600 2001 misfire - bucksfiz - 24-05-13

misfire on no 4  and slight one on no 3 tryed several plugs tryed coils tryed caps  still no good anyone got any ideas cheers boys

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - red98 - 24-05-13

if you have a nice big fat spark at the plugs i would start looking at the carbs  Wink ....what colour are the plugs ?

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - bucksfiz - 24-05-13

no 4 plug is still like new no change of colour when i pull the lead off with it running nothing happens and no 3 only a very slight drop in rpm  1& 2 leads off seperatly and the rpm drops right down to engine nearly cutting out so 3 not working fully and 4 pot nothing at all plug still stays like new  done a compession check and all 120

Drain carbs, maybe you've water in the float bowls?,i've had this on bikes before.
Worth a try.

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - red98 - 24-05-13

have you checked for a spark ? Wink

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - WookieoToole - 24-05-13

swap coils over that will tell u if coil pack is naff

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - bucksfiz - 24-05-13

swapped coils and put a new one on  and yes we have a good spark????????????????????    anyone got a rope doing my head in now  did undo drain plug on no 4 carb but only let a bit out just to see if there was petrol in there  thks for all the replies so far but still not sorted

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - bucksfiz - 26-05-13

drained carbs still no good

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - Fazerider - 26-05-13

If you've a spark and compression that only leaves fuel as the problem. Either the level or possibly a blocked jet.
Are you using choke? Does the cylinder chime in at higher revs or when warm? (Might help pinpoint a cause to the choke or pilot).

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - bucksfiz - 26-05-13

its like it hot or cold    ive taken the carbs off stripped em down cleaned the jets found no think    still doing me head in

Re: fazer 600 2001 misfire - Fazerider - 26-05-13

Are you sure the spark leads are connected in the right order? Just wondering if 3 and 4 are swapped.
