Bellypan identification - risticuss - 12-05-13

Hi everyone,


Can anyone identify this make of bellypan? It's the only one I've seen that I really like the look of but can't seem to find it.

Hey,

Pretty sure that's the factory fitted ones opposed to an aftermarket one. I'm not 100% sure though.

its yamaha's official belly pan. you get a choice of with or without crash bobbins.  i dont think you'll find any info about um on the interweb. you might have to go to ya local yam dealer...........

Made by TCP.I've got one on my bike.Check out their website.It was made for the Fox-eye but fits the Box-eye as the frame (mounting points)are the same.

Got the same as the top pic on my Fazer. Yep, previous owner said it was an official one. Agreed, it is the best looking pan on the market.

However, I've managed to trash mine. Dropped bike a couple of times, the crash bobbins bend easily, which then flexes and cracks the pan... Sad

Ah, bugger... I guess it's going to be astronomical to get one then. I'll have to run down to the dealer and see if they can get one. Then haggle like mad  Big Grin

As I've said these are made by TCP and you can buy them from their website.No need to go to a Yamaha dealer.I fitted one to my bike a couple of years ago and had to buy the fixing kit from TCP as I got the belly pan from ebay without the fixing kit.

Dave, do TCP also do the crash bobbins? I've got the belly pan but no crash protection.

I know Arfa said they can bend and crack the belly pan but to be hinest if I drop the bike I'd rather the engine etc was protected a bit.

Hey Dave,

I had a look on the TCP website, but the one they had, had a slightly different front section, it's a bit flatter and I like the look of the double louvred slightly pointer front.

Thank you anyway. And if the genuine one is stupid money or unavailable, I may just take a second look.

I contacted TCP and they say they no longer do fairing for FZS600 year 03. So you may want to check with dealers about yor excat model required.

Gutted  :'(

I think they still do the crash bobbins,that what it says on there website anyway.I've just had a look at the tcpholland website and I see what you mean the Belly pan looks a lot flatter.They come up on ebay from time to time I saw one on there about six months ago,Just needed a respray.Thats what I did with mine.I payed £40 for it.

I have a powerbronze fitted to mine (came with the bike). In my opinion, it's the best looking one, the squareness suits the box eye better than the rounder ones.

Just my opinion, anyway.

Having now seen the OEM one (now that I know it is the OEM) I do prefer it - looks better than any of the aftermarket parts I've seen

I'm after the dark blue to suit the 2003 foxeye.

The powerbronze does suit the boxeye, but the OEM is pointier so suits the foxeye imo.

Factory belly pans defo not available from yamaha any more, you might find a dealer has a dusty one squirreled away somewhere.

Took me two years hunting to find one, & still the wrong colour!

I'd take the Red one kindly offered if i was you.

Before i fitted it i thought they looked a bit errr, big.
But really grown on me & actually quite well designed as shape sheilds your feet somewhat from elements, so not just for show.

Here's my Baldrick cunning plan:
                                          1x 30mm od m8 penny washer between the plastic bobbin & the blue alloy part, next cut 2 or 3mm thick adhesive foam circles out to fit inner face of plastic bobbins (with a 30mm+ central hole cut out for washer)
Reassemble.Don't overtighten,but use threadlock on bolts.
The foam grips the belly pan but with a certain amount of give. Not crash tested yet, but i'm hoping it gives belly pan a fighting chance in the event....
