Battery Ring terminal question - size? - Strifae - 11-05-13 I bought a new charger cable for my tomtom rider but it was literally just the cable with no ring connectors to screw into the battery terminals. Does anyone know what size I need to buy? 6mm 8mm? Etc? It's doing my head in can literally not find any info anywhere Many thanks! Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - chaz - 11-05-13 At a guess I would say 6mm, but if you connect straight to the battery it must have an in-line fuse so if the wire gets trapped it won't fry it. maybe someone knows where you can connect into a fused live that's via the ignition if you only want to use it when the bike is in use? Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - Strifae - 11-05-13 I have a fuse I plan to wire into the cable as well just wanted to make sure I bought the correct ring terminal connector - I figured 8mm may be a bit big so will go with 6mm They are cheap enough anyway just wanted to check ![]() Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - simonm - 11-05-13 You could go and measure it ? :lol Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - Strifae - 11-05-13 ![]() Was far easier to whip out phone while in dry non raining house lol Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - simonm - 11-05-13 Ya lazy wossisface. I like it... I find myself taking photos of the bike with my phone for reference whilst I'm not near it :-P Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - Punkstig - 11-05-13 Use a 6mm but cut a notch out the end of it, that way you don't have to completely undo the bolt from the battery, just loosen slightly and slide the terminal under. If the connectors are too thick ( or if you have several attached to the battery) the bolt ends up being too short to grab the captive nut in the battery. Just always remember to tighten the battery connectors as tight as you can over wise you'll end up with drainage/ charging woes! Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - simonm - 11-05-13 I was considering adding an extra fuse box to reduce the wiring mess for a fiver from eBay but got sidetracked. Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - Razgruff - 11-05-13 10mm A/F nut size means the bolt is usually M6 thread size So 6mm ring size ![]() Re: Battery Ring terminal question - size? - Strifae - 11-05-13 Thanks for your help everyone ![]() |
