Grooves on tyres - dazza - 30-04-13 Hello Foccer's, after my recent bad experience with a set of PR 3's I have now noticed a grooved line right round the centre of both my new BT 023's. Does any one know what this is or what causes it or if it's anything to worry about ? Re: Grooves on tyres - Chris - 30-04-13 Think it's just where the moulds will have been when being made... I've got the same tyres on mine so will have a look later. Think it's pretty normal though. Chris Re: Grooves on tyres - Dead Eye - 30-04-13 Seems fairly normal to me - I'll check out my BT023's in a bit as I need to pop out and I'll post up the results ![]() Re: Grooves on tyres - nsr500v4 - 30-04-13 One of my mates bikes has the exact same line, just the mould line. All good. Re: Grooves on tyres - ghostbiker - 30-04-13 worried the hell out of me when i first seen it on mine, went stright back to the guy that fitted, didnt belive what he said so went to 2 other places.... its totaly normal for that tyre lol :lol i dont think its a mold line though, one guy said it was a anti static line, another said a mold line the other 2 just didnt have a clue what it actualy was but its on all the 023's Re: Grooves on tyres - Fuzzy - 30-04-13 I had exactly the same on my old BT-023s and wondered what they were. I think one is appearing on my rear PR3 too. As people have already said, most likely something to do with the mould. Doubt anything to worry about but I still think its a bit odd. Re: Grooves on tyres - andybesy - 30-04-13 Yup my last bt 023 was the same as is the new one I had fitted today. If your interested it had done 10,500 quite squared off but some tread left, would probably have got 12,000 but a new one is my treat for upcoming tour. Re: Grooves on tyres - Skippernick - 30-04-13 I got it, most modern tyres have it. Its nothin to do with the mold it is an earthing strip due to the amount of silica in the tyre. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Products/productsresults/Tyres/2011/May/0411-tyres-mystery-line/ Re: Grooves on tyres - Chris - 30-04-13 (30-04-13, 07:03 PM)Skippernick link Wrote: I got it, most modern tyres have it. Learn something new everyday 8) Thanks for clearing that one up! Guess the guy at the tyre garage that told Ghostbiker it was an anti static strip was right, I'd go there for my tyres in future as he knows what he's on about ![]() Chris Re: Grooves on tyres - dazza - 30-04-13 As usual, you Foccer's have solved another mystery...Now, does anyone know anything about women ? :b Re: Grooves on tyres - JZS 600 - 30-04-13 Well there you have it! Wondered what that line was all about.. Re: Grooves on tyres - nsr500v4 - 30-04-13 dazza, will ANYONE ever know anything about women!!! They are a law unto themselves!! Re: Grooves on tyres - Skippernick - 30-04-13 They're from Venus, i know that. :lol Re: Grooves on tyres - Chris - 30-04-13 I've heard that some of them have teeth down there...??? :\ And that if they say "nothing's wrong" then it means you're really in the Sh*t. That's all I know... Hope that helps, stay safe fellas! Chris Re: Grooves on tyres - richfzs - 30-04-13 Apparently, when you ask if they're ok, and they say "fine", it means Fucked up, Insecure, Neurotic & Emotional. Be afraid, be very afraid. If you're male, consider yourself an earthing rod that earns money. Re: Grooves on tyres - ddtwelve - 01-05-13 Wow thats why my tyre ripped itself apart ....... :b |
