New helmet time. HJC R-PHA10?? - mustardbufc - 29-04-13

Anyone got a HJC R-PHA10? Just wondering how people had got on with them?

The Shoei XR1100 that I wanted just doesn't fit right.

I've tried numerous other brands on but the HJC seems to fit best (so probably a no brainer really!)

Thing is it only gets a 3 star rating on the SHARP website and I'd always thought they were a budget brand. Having said that Lorenzo and Spies race in them.

Get the best fit you can is my advice. I found HJC too narrow for my fat round head, but the shark vision R fitted perfectly.  Make sure yu keep it on for at least 10 mins before you buy as sometimes you don't always feel a tight spot straight away.

Hi sure2ride,

Well I might just go and try one of those as we seem to be of similar head shape!!

I've just always wondered on those type of helmets if the space created for the internal sun visor weakens the shell around that area?

And yes, I'll take on board your point on the 10 minute thing.

I have had HJC FS11 and cant grumble, fits well and reasonably quiet too, some features more expensive helmets dont have, good quality finish too. I am happy  Smile

Do you mean the Is-16 ? I've got one of those, and love it. Previously had the FG-14. I like HJCs  Smile

I know not ideal to buy extras for a new lid but they do sell different thickness pads to adjust the XR1100 to your head. 35mm is the default thickness and you can go larger and smaller. http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/42930
Your local Shoei dealer should carry them and be able to do a fitting for you.

With mine I also found the brow tight so I thumbed it in a little and fits nice now.
Oh and 1 more thing get the ear pads.. cut down wind noise no end on them lids

Cheers Fuzzbom,
Sportsbikeshop was where I went as they are in Boston where I live.
Cheekpads weren't a problem, it was around the brow. Large was just far too tight all over, Xl too loose around the brow. They could order a thicker crown liner from the uk importers, who would have to ship it in from japan, but it could take 12 weeks to arrive! They said they would do it for me though with no obligation, so it's still an option.

No problem.. All I did with mine was take the liner out and thumb in the inner shell a little round the brow area. found the pressure would give me headaches after a while on the bike.
It has been perfect since doing that, even the bloke in my local dealer said it was fine to do it.
