Hint #769 - BBROWN1664 - 24-04-13

When the fuel needle is deep into the red section, fill up the fuel tank before you end up pushing it to a garage!

In my defence the gauge showed 1/3 of a tank when I left home 50 miles before and I was too busy watching the feccers on the m25 while I filtered to watch the file gauge and didn't make it as far as the first garage once I did see it.

So far I've been lucky, but I've come close once or twice when I've been visiting friends and have no idea where I am Tongue

Funny you say that, I did exactly the same thing yesterday, about a mile away from home dropped into 3 cylinders, then 2 then 1 then the last half a mile was pushing!

Re: Hint #769 - ddtwelve - 24-04-13

did that last year got as far as doncaster  juntion that i needed so i could fill up with fuel , got to the top of the ramp then road repairs diversion arrr got bike a mile into diversion cough splutter , thank god it was a cool night had to push it all the way back 2 miles to next petrol station  :b

Re: Hint #769 - JZS 600 - 24-04-13

I had a ZX-6 a few years ago and it didn't have a fuel gauge.

I used to rely on miles on the trip meter to fill up or going onto reserve on the tap.

One time I forgot to reset the tap off reserve,,,,

(cough)

ALWAYS look out for fellow bikers walking up the road towards the nearest garage!

Re: Hint #769 - ChristoT - 24-04-13

I did that only once on my previous bike. On the Varadero, I was riding it down the A1M (going to pick up the Fazer, funnily enough) when it spluttered and died. Just about made it off the motorway, but had to push it round round the roundabout and into the service station! Five L of unleaded later, I was pootling happily dwn the road again, and feeling even gladder to be rid of the bloody thing!

(Again - fuel tap)
