Mornin all,Ive just been trying to fit my simmi end can but the link pipe doesnt want to go on as far as the original was.
The link pipe has 3 slots cut outta it for expanding but it only goes on as far as the end of the slots (which makes sense),about an inch instead of going flush up the end of the tapered part of the downpipe like the original,im guessing this is normal,i cant push it on any further & it wont twist on any further but it doesnt seem like allot of a join & its annoying it doesnt go up to the end of the down pipe,plus the sticky out triangular piece on the link pipe (guessing is a stop for the centre stand or somethin) is quite close to the rear brake torque arm.
Anyone got any suggestions please?

Just push it in as far as it will go. Move the stand stop into the best position possible, and maybe put some silicone in any small exposed holes at the join then tighten the jubilee clip over the top.
Any chance of a photo' maybe?

I just didnt wanna be a silly boy with the exhaust falling off down the road,when slid on the slots are fully covered from within by the downpipe so i dont think there will be any issues with leaks,ill go tighten it up & see if i can manage to pull it off,if i cant pull it off then im happy.
If i have any more dramas ill post up a pic.
Otherwise ill post up a pic of the new exhaust on anyway to try getting folk to focus on the important things in life instead of arguing about politics

As long as it's pushed reasonably in, once the hanger strap for the end can is secure it's not going anywhere in a hurry.

I very recently fitted a Simmi can and you are right, the link pipe is almost impossible to slide all the way to the stop on the collector thingy, however I did get it within about 1cm and the stop matched up with the centre stand rubber fine, I had to emery tape the outlet to remove the old crap (definitely couldn't get a gasket on it) , and then used some oil, a flat piece of wood placed over the end of the link pipe and a rubber mallet to "tease" the link pipe further on.
Once I had it as far as i could get it I tightened everything up and it is fine, no leaks and a very secure fit.

Well i almost managed it,got the link pipe real tight.
Im missing a nut now for the strap,the original can had the nut sliding around underneath a small welded plate so i cant use it on the new can & the new kit didnt include one,ill have to nip out & buy one.
Looks like i could do with slackening off the link pipe now so i can adjust the hanger properly as the angle for the bolt was all wrong.i do like making things hard for myself :rolleyes
Jones what's the spacer for that was included????is it for the bin?,looks useless to me.

BTW, you can remove the nut that is held in the old bracket, just bend the sliding part of the bracket with a screw driver and the nut falls out

I was thinking i didnt wanna damage the original as i may sell it re use it in years to come
But im seriously tempted now.

Ok i nicked that nut from the old can,cheers mr steam...i needed coaxing
The batten of wood trick also worked a treat to get the pipe on further...
Just started her up and wow it sounds shit hot,im surprised how nice it sounds with the baffle still in,i best get some new ear plugs :b
