Re: fazer 1000 caliper seals 04 - dickturpin - 11-04-13 Fleabay is your friend here....about twenty quid i think for genuine seals . Lots.of users on here say use genuine...they fit ! Re: fazer 1000 caliper seals 04 - fazer390 - 11-04-13 Hi Bobdod... I find it's good practice to keep an eye on these Fazer/R1 brakes as they do get a bit crabby; causing them to stick and bind occasionally. I remove my calipers every so often, remove the pads and clean the pistons in situ with WD40 & a pain brush. I hope this helps... ![]() Re: fazer 1000 caliper seals 04 - kebab19 - 11-04-13 Advice for the 600 in the thread below but front calipers are the same http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,6995.0.html I believe genuine Yam seals are considerably more than £20, unless they've radically changed their pricing! More like £20 a seal... Although pattern seals are indeed often poor & ill fitting, I've gone with Nikone seals in the past with good effect. Re: fazer 1000 caliper seals 04 - bobdog - 11-04-13 just priced for both caliper seals from fowlers including vat. £133.77 :eek thats just for the piston seals. its give them a clean time then aftermarkets look like the way. Re: fazer 1000 caliper seals 04 - VNA - 12-04-13 Mines a 2004 model. Every year I remove the pads, push the pistons out a touch and thoroughly clean using brake cleaner (I don't fancy using WD40). Once I've got em all nice and clean, I give the pistons a smear of Red Rubber Grease and stick the pads in. Give the brake fluid a wee bleed and she stops again like new. And I've still got the rubber hoses fitted. Don't spend the money on the seals unless they really are focced. Re: fazer 1000 caliper seals 04 - bobdog - 12-04-13 ive no intension changing them unless i have to, the bikes been sorn for a while before i got it so im hoping a good clean will do the job :thumbup |
