Another sad story - richfzs - 04-04-13 It's that time of year :-( http://www.bikewise.org.uk/news/newspagemain.php?subaction=showfull&id=1365075574&archive&start_from&ucat=1& Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2 Re: Another sad story - Grahamm - 04-04-13 The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving So he might get a jail sentence up to 5 years (but probably a lot less) and a year's ban. Meanwhile the biker is dead ![]() Re: Another sad story - bri h - 04-04-13 Rip all bikers no matter whos fault it is we should count our blessing. Re: Another sad story - maddog04 - 04-04-13 well said Bri no matter how careful we are, we're very vulnerable stay safe peeps Re: Another sad story - Tiberius Onklevaart - 04-04-13 Causing death by careless driving only gets you 9 points and a 750 quid fine in my experience Re: Another sad story - mcsuffolk - 04-04-13 Sentences vary for that offence..... I know of cases where points were given and cases where prison has resulted..... Whatever the sentence it doesn't bring the deceased back and is often very little help to the family..... A tragic loss..... That moment could last forever for any of our families, which is who my thoughts would be with.... Re: Another sad story - Hamos - 05-04-13 I know that road well. A very fast road with a good view. There is a junction half way along, very easy to get T boned. Or you get boy racers drifting wide on some of the bends. Very sad Re: Another sad story - pitternator - 05-04-13 its the same old theme...causing a death by negligence is manslaughter and must be treated as such. Is there ever such a thing as a true " accident". IMO if all drivers knew the penalties for this were so high, maybe they would drive more carefully. And those that dont get taken off the road. Theres just too much casual approach to driving these days. Dont even get me on using phones while driving either. Almost every young female driver I see is texting on their lap . You know they are doing it cos the head is looking ahead, but the eyes are looking down in the lap. Sod what is happening in front of them...feckin imbeciles...at least every day I see it happening and I only drive a few miles cross town daily...! |
