Since I bought my Fazer almost 2 years ago, I have changed many things on it. Some of these things draw power from the battery (Twin running lamps, digital gear indicator, heated grips, 12V socket, alarm...You get the idea).
My problem is the immense drain on the battery. I want to know how to rectify this problem as I have growen rather used to my "mod-cons" and don't want to remove them. Infact, I would like to fit more.
I have been told that changing the head lamps to an HID kit will save some power, so I bought one and will fit that soon enough. I was also told LED lights at the tail save some more power, so £50 from a German company buys that.
Will this be enough? Can I fit a second battery? Or get more juice into the existing unit?

Can't see you have excessive drain there... I have both headlights on the whole time the bike's running (and heated grips in winter), the generator copes ok. A gear indicator won't take any current to speak of. The alarm might cause a problem, it doesn't need to take much current, the fact that it's running for perhaps hundreds of hours without the battery getting a charge can flatten it.
It depends on the way the bike's used. If it goes for weeks without use and then doesn't spend much time at mid to high revs when it does see action, then the battery will suffer.

I agree with Fazerider but if you still think you need more power the generator on the foxeye model 2002-2003 give a bit more power than the earlier model. I believe the connection plug is different so some wiring alteration would also be needed. I've not done it and don't know if any other changes would be needed. An extra (charged) battery might help for a short time, but you can only get out what you put in.

I have fitted a switch on the fairing so as to turn of one of the headlights ,effects dip only
I have heated jacket and gloves which are used every trip at the moment.
this mod saves 5o watts, enough for me

rather than guess, work out your draw.
55w per headlight
5w per side/tail lights
21w per brake
42w per indicator a side
10w for idiot lights
15w for ignition
5w for sat nav
add on your extras and then find out what your alternator output is. give yourself at least 5% spare for wiring losses etc.

I was going to say this almost justifies led indicators until I remembered they're only on for a minute or so most of the time.
