What oil ? - wannafazer - 03-03-13 is everyone using these days ? I used to get the Motul stuff from HG with a filter, but the cheapest is 35 quid now. ta Les Re: What oil ? - gerkin - 03-03-13 halfords sem 10/40 Re: What oil ? - darrsi - 03-03-13 Castrol Power Re: What oil ? - reillypadraig - 03-03-13 I know it's expensive enough but I rather sticking with the motel 10w40 semi, this always comes down to either price or personal preference so I herby officially remove myself from any bickering that this topic may incur lol 8) Re: What oil ? - Thorn - 03-03-13 Used veggie oil, no complaints so far. Re: What oil ? - wannafazer - 03-03-13 Thanks guys, so there's no cheap solution these days ? Bummer Bel Ray, very good oil, used to come in 4 litre pack: Semi synth EXS: http://www.belray.com/bel-ray-exp-synthetic-ester-blend-4t-engine-oil Full synth EXP: http://www.belray.com/bel-ray-exs-synthetic-ester-4t-engine-oil 10w50 for Serbian climate, perhaps 10w40 for UK. Silkolene, PRO 4, or semi-synth COMP 4 http://www.silkolene.com/index.php?calling=product&sub=race# http://www.silkolene.com/index.php?calling=product&sub=ride# They can be found cheaper than Motul round here. Bel Ray is a very good oil. Re: What oil ? - wannafazer - 03-03-13 cheers. Found the Motul I used to use http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motul-5000-4T-Semi-Synthetic-4-Stroke-Motorcycle-Bike-Engine-Oil-10w-40-/400424763567?pt=UK_Vehicle_Oils_Lubricants_Fluids&hash=item5d3b2d00af and a pattern filter http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FZS600-Fazer-5DM-5RT-98-03-NE020-Oil-Filter-Pattern-/170873213619?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item27c8d652b3 Re: What oil ? - wannafazer - 03-03-13 (03-03-13, 05:55 PM)reillypadraig link Wrote: I know it's expensive enough but I rather sticking with the motel 10w40 semi, this always comes down to either price or personal preference so I herby officially remove myself from any bickering that this topic may incur lol 8) Know what you mean, but I change it 2 or 3 times a year so price is important. Re: What oil ? - Dead Eye - 03-03-13 I used to use Castrol Power 1, but I've taken to buying whatever is cheapest on eBay - recently that turned out to be 5 litres (4 litres + 1 litre free!) of Motul 5000 semi-synthetic. Cost be £22.59 delivered if memory serves, was pretty happy with that ![]() Re: What oil ? - Slaninar - 04-03-13 (03-03-13, 10:19 PM)Thorn link Wrote: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-FZS600-Fazer-98-03-Elf-Moto4-Road-Oil-Filter-Kit-HF147-/150881992783?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item232144804f You get what you pay for in that particular case, but having said that, most oils are good enough if up to an API SG standard and changed regularly. On the other hand, I change oil every 6000 kms, so I don't mind paying 10-20 euros more (per change) for one of the better oils. [/quote] You must do savage mileage if you change 3 times a year. Re: What oil ? - wannafazer - 04-03-13 not really, about 10,000 but I'll change it for a European trip or a long Scotland trip wether it's due or not. Plus the bikes old now. Re: What oil ? - JZS 600 - 05-03-13 Yaaay! Oil again! I bought a tanker load when HG were selling the stuff for £10/4litres. It's supposed to be Motul semi. I thought that the Silkolene semi made the engine sound and feel smoother and the gear change smoother too but if it's the right spec, there you go.. Look out for oil/filter deals on t'internet. (I change about 3 times a year too on 4000 mile intervals.) |
