Reccomend a fairing fixer... plz - Revilo18 - 28-02-13 Hi there, I was knocked off a while ago and the guy drove off. Another bike went and chased him down and got his plate and he's being done by the law - which makes for a refreshing change. Anyway, he did this. Anyone know a good plastic welder / bodge it jobber at a good price. I'm in London but can go outside of if needs be. I've looked for replacement front fairings but they are either way to pricey new or impossible to find second hand. The bike is now a cat D and the other party's insurers paid out a wee bit - but I'd rather make it look ok than as new - the bikes got less than 20k on the clock and I have no intention of selling it. I would do the work myself but for lack of skill / time / nerve. Thanks for any suggestions. Although £400 is more like what I'm hoping to spend on the whole repair - including new indicator, mirror, right front foot peg, bar end etc etc... Not going to bother with the end can. It's scratched all the way down, but makes such a lovely noise. The main thing is a geometry check on front end as it feels very very slightly off now - could be the bent footpeg though - or slightly bent bars. I've already ground down, sanded and repainted the engine bars and replaced brake lever - which snapped off on impact. Re: Reccomend a fairing fixer... plz - jon - 28-02-13 Give it a go yourself! Seriously, plastic welding isnt too hard, just use a soldering iron and feed in plastic to the join as you go along. Biros are usually made of the right sort of plastic. Practise on some old scrap 1st, who knows, you might be quite good at it, dont know til you try! Its a good idea to do it in a ventilated area with a mask on though. Not cheap, but certainly cheaper than replacement parts.
