Pass switch stopped working - mobile mouse - 05-02-13 Hi, Going home last night slowed to allow a car out in front and pressed the pass switch on the left handle switchgear. No full beam. I had to switch to full beam then off to dipped. Can this switch be cleaned up or is it a case of having to buy a replacement left hand switchgear. Re: Pass switch stopped working - alexanderfitu - 05-02-13 Im sure you could get some contact cleaner in via the opening that the switch comes out of. Does it light up dimly or not at all, or flicker? Could be a dodgy connection. Re: Pass switch stopped working - darrsi - 05-02-13 Make sure your plug's pushed in and seated properly behind the bulb. Re: Pass switch stopped working - mobile mouse - 05-02-13 Bulbs are fine they work on dipped and full beam when selected. Just the pass switch doesn't switch from dipped to full. When you operate the button you don't hear any click like a microswitch. I was thinking I will need to disconnect the wiring connector and see if it bells out or NOT as the case will probably be. But a heavy squirt of GT85 may help. Can you get at the contacts. I presume you have to split the switchgear. But is there access to the switch internals. Re: Pass switch stopped working - Lawrence - 05-02-13 Take the switchgear off the handlebar (careful with the choke cable) and clean the switch up with some contact cleaner and a bit of WD40 on the hinge/sliding bits. Re: Pass switch stopped working - Bracechenko - 05-02-13 The salt would have killed it. Could be corroded inside but worth a wd40 effort Re: Pass switch stopped working - otis - 07-02-13 Had the exact same with mine about 2 years ago. Took it of the bars, cleaned it all up as they get crud build up between the contacts and it was sorted. Just take care removing it from the bars |
