engine casing - justy1 - 09-01-13

afternoon.

had an off just before christmas in which i required screwing back together. ( if ya interested the x-rays are in the "picture challenge bit" in the general section )  Wink

anyways, i finally got to see the bike today & see what state its in. i knew one of the casing was cracked as there was oil all over the road. i thought it was the clutch cover but it turns out it wasnt. it was the one in front which sticks out. ( ive not really taken much notice of how the engine looked ) :\

my question is, what that casing called? ive tried googling it & ebay as i need to replace it but ive no joy in indentifing what its called. i would of looked it up in my haines manual but ive seemed to of hiden it somewhere. :o

anyone know what its called?

sorry, the bikes a black 98 ( t reg ) 600.

Most likely the Starter Clutch Cover, which may have caused the confusion as it is in front of the engine clutch cover

got a small scratch on mine  Sad  been looking on ebay since ive had the bike,spotted one in ten years  :eek ,parhaps someone on here can help  Smile

just seen that you've put another clicky link. 64 quid! dont seem that dear as i found 2 second hand ones on ebay & both are asking for 60 quid with 5 or 6 quid p&p!!!! to top it all they both in shit state!!!!

just phoned local dealer to compare prices.

turns out theyre cheaper than AJ Sutton!  :eek

AJ Sutton, casing 64.72 & gasket 7.56 total 72.28

dealer, casing 51.28 & gasket 7.44 total 58.72

quite surprised at the price. really thought the dealer prices would have been way more!  :\

I mainly use AJ Sutton as a reference as their website breaks down a bike with diagrams, it can be extremely helpful.
I know they're not the cheapest, but they do sell mainly original parts too, so it's probably just a price comparison thing, sometimes cheaper, sometimes more expensive.

totally agree with you mr darris. i to like to have a visual option (being dyslexic it helps quite abit)  Wink

thought id put the price on so if like mr red98 others were after that bit theyve got some idea on the price differents.

Hey man, just read Ur post.

I have a spare engine if u want the starter clutch cover, ill put up a picture tomorrow, can take close up of the gaskets aswel if it help, think its ok.

Ill clean it and get a close up of the paint aswel to see what you think.

thanks for the offer mr reillypadraig but ive gone & bought a new one from the dealer. well, ordered one as they dont keep any in stock.

just looking for a blk fazer 1000 front fairing & then im done! Smile
